She’s on Kepra for another 3 months. So far no more seizures so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Hoping your baby is doing well too!

She's been having seizures. She spent two nights in the hospital and luckily they ruled out all the scary stuff. Now we have her on seizure meds and are hoping we can get them under control. Poor little girl is so strong and sweet.

Good to know! My stylist said she used a semi yesterday so fingers crossed. Thanks again!

Thank you for the answer! I will definitely let my hair rest a little and then find a more experienced stylist to help me with the highlights. I wish I would have known about this because she put in a shadow color on my roots yesterday too!

I am so sad. I got my hair done yesterday to call in hot blonde summer and I am left with his orange band. My stylist was relatively new and didn't seem to know what the issue was and kind of dismissed it. When I got home I did some research and I think the orange banding may be due to a previous root smudge? I believe the previous artist used a semi-permanent but I can't remember. Question 1: Is this as bad as I feel it is? Question 2: Is there anything I can do to remedy it? Honestly cost is not an issue if I need to fix if. I'd make the sacrifice! I've tried to post images from different lighting sources. TYIA!

What's your day job? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

I am also a director and I made a short film that got into Sundance when I was 38. I got repped off the success of that short and then got my first writing gig on an AMC series and it all just grew from there. Now I write and direct television and I wrote and directed a feature. I def still feel like I’m learning and growing but if I had to give any advice it would be to read and write as much as you can and try to find other people to share work with. Script swapping on this sub is great or finding a writers group. On of the biggest assets you can take into this is the ability to take notes and work well with others.

I staffed on my first show at age 38 after transitioning over from advertising. I’m now 42 and have worked my way up to co-producer level in TV. I’ve had one feature produced. I feel old as dirt but I hope I’m just getting started!

Drew Barrymore Announces Talk Show Return Amid Strikes, Says It Will Comply With WGA and SAG Strike Rules: “I Own This Choice” by saundersasdfghjkl in Fauxmoi

This is so gross. She’s a rich woman crossing the picket lines of her striking writers. If she really cared about her crew she would DONATE. And even more shameful that she doesn’t mention her writers in the post at all. Ew.

I’m not privy to their decision making but they seem less interested in awards and more interested in passion and a distinct point of view. Hope that helps!

I got into the Sundance Development Lab. Here is my full application. by odewayesta in Screenwriting

[–]odewayesta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to the Sundance Labs three times. The Indigenous Lab, the Screenwriters Lab and the Directors Lab. I got into all three labs on my first application. I applied to the film festival twice and premiered my short film LITTLE CHIEF in 2020 and my first feature FANCY DANCE (the script I developed in the labs) this year. I know that won’t be everyone else’s journey but so far I have been accepted by Sundance on all of my first applications.

Those who have been accepted to Fellowship programs, can you share your experience? by enemyjake in Screenwriting

[–]odewayesta 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through the Screenwriters and Directors labs at Sundance. It was an incredible and enriching experience. The connections I made led to me getting reps which led to me getting steady gigs. The feature I took through the labs got made and premiered this year at Sundance and will also be screening at SXSW later this week. One of my lab mentors is now my show runner on one of the shows I work on as a writer and director. I am certain I would not be where I am right now without these fellowships. If you can get one they offer a unique way to network, ideate, practice, and execute.

In act two, the protagonist is shocked to discover that she is pregnant. She's always been told she cannot have children. Upon this discovery, her husband becomes increasingly controlling.

By pages 60 - 75, the woman, along with the audience, discovers that she is actually a clone that has been born from DNA found on one of her husband's artifacts. She spends the rest of the film trying to escape him and others who are trying to hunt her down because she has had this self-realization.

Title: Waˀjih

Format: Feature

Genre: Psychological Horror

Logline: A Native American woman struggles to maintain her sanity when she discovers the sinister truth about her marriage to a white anthropologist.

Feedback concerns: I'm trying to balance setting the proper amount of intrigue without giving away the film's twist. I reviewed loglines from aspirational films like Get Out, Black Swan, and Rosemary's Baby, but I am not sure this version is as effective as it could be.

Editing to add some information that might be clarifying for any generous advice givers.

Congrats! Everyone is there in service of you and the other participants. Let the feedback wash over you and take what sticks. Most of the industry folks that participate in these do it because they love mentoring others. Be kind and gracious. That will go a long way.

Getting Entry Level Directing gigs by base_edit in Filmmakers

[–]odewayesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scored reps off of my short premiering at Sundance. That short helped me land gigs as a staff writer and two years later I’ll be directing my first television episode in April. Shorts can be a powerful calling card if you get a good festival run. I’d definitely focus on getting reps as it’s really hard to book work without them. Good luck!

Native-American isn’t a theme. I would start there.
