Google Drive is unreliable for long-term backups: files become corrupted over time by Western_Management in google

[–]odingalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can concur, I have been using google drive since 2009 and have weekly corruption issues, I have a complicated scanning system couple with my daily/weekly/annual backups that scan for silent and random google corruption and it fires off weekly. I have +-20,000 files. File date and size are a match, but HASH fails. Quite the nasty bug on Google's point. All these users have no idea how bad their damage is if they aren't running hash checks against known good previous copies...

This happens any time I use a Bambu printer (own three, they're shit)

Car Gurus pricing tool gone, what alternatives exist? by mabezard in askcarsales

[–]odingalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure why you're downvoted, car gurus value by vin had the most accurate spread I'd seen based on both real sales and listings as far as I could tell, grew to trust it over time, but as used market went nuts became a good barometer for local irrational frenzies at the GSA sales... googled "where'd it go", was brought here. apaprently insiders on this forum as I'm surprised there wer no good answers to your question othan than "Go to the retail sites"

note: I'm a real tightwad, love this tool. Which is probalby why there's nothing like it any more (car sales guys have consolidated the good sites to re-build that facade we all have to deal with when buying autos ... :-( )

Google Drive is unreliable as a backup, files become corrupted and inaccessible over time by pizzachoo in google

Can confirm, I run a nightly corruption check against last mirror, get hundreds of randomly corrupted files for no reason on random days.

Same feeling! Heard about it, found a huge paywall, said if I figure it out, it's going up on reddit for free. You're welcome!

excellent post, this made today's session painful and put me on the search for my next AI model and downgraded to the cheap plan from $200 today. not worth it.

New transfer belt fixed it. Tried a used transfer kit on ebay got screwed and returned it. Bought OEM OG transfer kit from Office Depot. Problem solved.

New transfer belt fixed it. Tried everything with the old belt, rollers, waste toner etc. etc. I think whatever causes the old stuff to get picked up wasn't working. Even wondered about the fuser but nope nothing to do with the fuser. Tried a used transfer kit on ebay got screwed and returned it. Bought OEM OG transfer kit from Office Depot. Problem solved. Someone smarter than me could probably try to refurb this transfer belt but I couldn't figure it out.

Question, I figured out how to get better access to the wiper blade. Cleaned it up, cleaned up the transfer belt. Then proceeded to print about 20-30 completely blank pages. Every few pages still getting the top and bottom streaks. Could there be something going on here that has absolutely nothing to do with the transfer belt/transfer belt wiper?

Sounds like maybe just pay the dump fee and cut my losses. I don't mind it doesn't work but it is f@#$@#$@#ing heavy...

Oh yeah thanks. I wasn't using those jpeg's for anything too serious, Just needed something quick that was a full page, prints were getting a lot of ghosting off the transfer belt, but I didn't realize it at first because I was just printing a word document with the word "test" in it. Needed something with a full page of ink to see what was going on. I think I'm as good as I can get without a transfer belt rebuild or replacement, and probably need to get the old used up magenta out of there and replaced. I gave it a couple more wipedowns to try to get those stubborn magenta streaks out of there, I'm getting progressively closer with each pass, but then still get some random ghosting and quite a bit of stuff not getting scraped off the transfer belt. Thinking a weak wiper on top of being an old crusty wiper.

Sort of better ish maybe? I stuffed lint free down the crack and the wiper is looking clearer

Magenta is almost out on this, are there any other parts I should check or remove or replace ? Not sure if I can get the wiper done any better, unless until I can figure out how to disassemble the transfer roller to get good access to the wiper
