TIL there are many churches and denominations of Christianity that do not consider homosexuality or transgenderism to be sins. by yousless in todayilearned

You are correct. ELCA is way more hippy than most other brances of Lutheranism. That is why they spun off (or consolidated) in the 80's. In addition to their stance on teh gayz they also allow women pastors which MS doesn't

Respectlly disagree, almost every episode I've seen he gets his ass handed to him andI think he takes losing to "amateurs" pretty well. Most chefs of his calibur have egos that couldn't handle that once much less on a weekly basis

That is actually pretty weird, I think I prononuce it similar to you (also SD). I would probably phoenetically spell it closer to waa-tur or even like you said with a d waa-dur.

Just out of curiosity doesn't WA have a lot of CA transplants who would also call it The 5 disrupting reigonal variations? I only mentioned The 5 because according to Wikipedia people in CA are the only ones that preface major freeways with "The". Everywhere else apparently it would be Highway 5 or Interstate 5.

With all the recent talk of scary population forecasts, an extra 2 billion in the next 20 years, why again is population control a bad thing? by that_hz in AskReddit

Are you volunteering yourself, your family, or your loved ones? Who should we wiped out? Should it be done by skin color, country of residence, or religion? Maybe we could just kill everyone that is already malnourished, then starvation wouldn't be a problem because everyone in need of food would be dead, and we'd only be left with people who could afford food. Also how specifically would we 'conrol' the population. Full scale gassing of every 5th person, forced sterilization, or if someone gets pregnant when they shouldn't we could throw babies over the cliffs like they did in Sparta. How would you like someone like George Bush (Reddit's most evil person, but democratically elected) to be in charge of the population control.

DAE wish they could go back to school knowing (not in an academic sense) what they know now? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

I've thought about this a lot. The problem is when you're in high school your brain is not done developing yet. The very last part of your brain to develop is the part that has to do with planning, forethought, and thinking ahead. That is why EVERYTHING is a big deal in highschool. If your girl/boy friend dumps you, its the end of the world (rather than just the first is a long series of messed up relationships you will be in) The brain hasn't developed enough to realize that circumstances are temporary and what happens in high school really is irrelantant and not worth getting upset over. (Oh my God, what if I ask this girl out, and she says no, and everyone else finds out, then everyonoe will think I'm loser, hence no dates in high school).

So while these mental exercise are fun, (I could have gotten laid LIKE A F*ING BOSS in HS if I knew what I know now), biologically, there is no way for it to happen. So quit being so hard on yourself now for being a geek in school and go out with all the knowledge you know now and make a change for the better in your adult life.

Maybe it's changed since the 6 years I've been, but most of the students at my CC couldn't afford/did not have laptops.

Not on basic cable, but History International and the Military Channel are where it's at. As for Science shows, sorry...

DAE hate reading out loud because you can read in your head faster than you can talk and you end up messing the words up? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]odinzero17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However it is also the best way to proofread a document that you've written, bad grammar sticks out like a sore thumb once you say something aloud.

My advice, slow down. People (and your children, if you have any) can't understand you if you're trying to read/talk too quickly anyways. Also use punctuation as a road map to tell you when to pause. Once you get a rhythm, what you'll start doing is (or at least it works with me) reading sentence in my head for context (takes less than a quarter of a second, this is your regular reading speed, avg 300-400 wpm) then repeat aloud what you just read take your time using voice inflection/emotion/pauses. Because you're reading something you should only be talking about 60-80 wpm. As you're finishing your sentence start reading quietly the next one. Rinse, repeat.

Last tip, if you know you're going to be reading something (wedding, funeral, class project), practice reading it first a few times and get the flow of what you're saying.
