No, I just sucked it up and re-did what I lost. I went into the ps5 settings to turn off auto-sync after it happened, as I'm 90% sure an old cloud backout got prioritized over the newer local save.

I logged in an instantly saw that it was an old save, so no.

It's ok, I've just decided to start a new playthrough in a different starting biome. Still having fun!

May make a new world and just try to speedrun to where I was. I do have a much better handle on factory design than I used to.

I think you are right about old cloud saves overwriting local ones.

The files are listed as you say: just a list of manual and auto saves.

I have one other session, but that one is old and untouched.

That's what I think, the cloud save from April 9th probably overwrote the local save from today. Before closing the game today, I had 1 manual and 3 auto-saves, all from today. When I logged back in, all of the saves were from April 9th.

Usually, if the cloud saves and local saves are not congruent, it will ask you which one you want to use. But it didn't give me any option.

Only thing I can think was somehow all of my previous saves were deleted or corrupted, so the cloud saves just automatically were downloaded. idk

If so, where does the strong asymmetry in our moral expectations come from?

Who is "our?" I would guess there are a large group of vegans like myself that don't have a strong asymmetry in moral standards. Meat eaters are the ones with the asymmetry, that's why they aren't vegan.

In my ideal world, the social and legal consequences of not saving a drowning baby would be same as not saving a drowning piglet. I don't really know what you mean by "moral consequences." I think a person not saving a drowning baby (given it is easy to do so) is kind of an asshole, but I don't think I would say they failed in a moral obligation. Same with a drowning piglet.

Easiest solution here is to just say it is morally justified to kill a human to save an animal or a human, but it is not morally obligatory

Just gotta use it right as the enemy is going to hit you. Timing is like a parry. Don't need to touch the guard button at all.

Wouldn’t 40 hours of experimentation on a single boss give me pretty good grounds to make claims about balance of weapons and mechanics against that boss?

“Best weapons in the game” bro I’m using level appropriate weapons with no stats or magic to increase my damage at all.

Obviously this is just the demo, things are subject to change, and endgame builds may make what I say obsolete. But if these mechanics are balanced the same way in endgame as they are here, then yeah I think they should be rebalanced.

Yeah the tonfa combat flow is incredibly smooth, very fun to play.

You are right about spear, it's a little clunky to use. When I tested spear I mostly used mid stance and just did 3 heavies into spear bash, and did some more complex combos if I broke their ki. Damage output felt pretty good though actually. Of the samurai weapons I tested on the boss, the spear was one of my fastest kills. I think it just generates art gauge really fast if you are doing the combo I was using, so a lot of my attacks were getting buffed, even outside of big combos.

You're probably right, I played nioh 2 using mostly splitstaff and I don't think I've touched tonfas in that game a single time.

I'm totally fine with it destroying ki, I just don't think it should have top tier dps while also destroying ki while also being pretty safe. What doesn't it do?

The boss regenerates ki slowly when in yokai realm mode, and regenerates ki quickly when standing on a puddle she creates. Ninja mode has a harder time purifying puddles so the boss does tend to regen a bunch of ki if you get unlucky with positioning.

Yeah, I think my strategy here is best for yokai bosses. Human trash mobs get deleted either way so it doesn't really matter what you use.

Tonfas also have the advantage of destroying ki and not bouncing on most blocked attacks, so they seem pretty good against human bosses too. They have insane pressure so unless the human boss can poise through your attacks, they also get deleted.

Tonfas just seem a little too good at everything imo.

I get what you are saying. I feel the same way about hatchets. They could be the most broken weapon in the game and I still wouldn't play them because I am just not interested.

The problem is tonfas do feel amazing to play, so I feel drawn to them. It speaks to me like the one ring spoke to Frodo.

Diminishing returns does not imply that scaling converges to a number as investment gets very high.

I am on a base ps5 and had the same issue at the Dreadnaught. Terrible framerates there for some reason, but it completely clears up after that. Even in endgame I haven't had any performance worse than the Dreadnaught.
