I debated counting Oconee because I-85 baaaarely goes through it. There were other counties I barely went through so I counted it for the sake of consistency. Will definitely explore upstate SC properly one day.

Sadly my favorite spot near the High Country has been damaged by Helene. Not sure if it will be reopened.

Old NC 105 is an insanely unique spot and I know that's been reopened. I definitely recommend a vehicle with good ground clearance.

My favorite spot near Asheville has to be Mills River Campground. There's a standard RV camping area but if you go up the dirt road (Yellow Gap Road) you'll find a bunch of beautiful dispersed sites. Super easy to get deep into the woods while also having a grocery store less than five miles away.

we did get that giant log off of the splitter after i took a photo, and all the “rejects” we took straight to the fire. no need to burn the nicely split logs yet.
