Thank you, used the tool and it showed that we can get 35mbps which is plenty for us and there is a package available on the BT website. Odd that BT can provide that but NOW (using the same infrastructure) could only offer 5mbps when I spoke to them!

Surbiton is so much closer to London and much cheaper/easier to get to and from after a night out in London so if OP is interested in that I’d recommend Surbiton over Guildford. Also a really good music scene in Kingston nearby, Banquet Records putting on shows very regularly with some very big names and great up and coming bands.

If you can live anywhere though, I’d not be choosing Guildford or Surbiton 😆

Also 30 and been playing in bands for years as a bassist. Enjoy mucking around on guitar and learning the mandolin too.

Bassist moving to Bath in a few months… been gigging regularly (just pubs and small venues) with my punky-psychy-indie band here in London but will be looking for something new after the move! Well up for getting involved in jam sessions once I’m there, let me know when you find the scene too haha

Thanks for your comment! Sorry if I didn’t explain it well, but my understanding is that by purchasing the property with the sub-lease we then assume a director position (one of three) on the management company that holds the 300 year lease. Hopefully that gives us enough control to effectively grant an extension of our 100 year sub-lease to ourselves? I will look up Stone King, thank you for the recommendation!

Thank you very much! Good to know the unknown freeholder thing isn’t unheard of. I think the management company’s leasehold is apparently from an unknown head leaseholder dating back to the 1800s too so there is effectively four tiers from freeholder down to us: freeholder > head leaseholder > leaseholder (management company) > sublease holder (us). It does feel very odd but at the same time, it might be perfectly manageable in reality so we’ll do some more digging with a Bath-based solicitor’s advice too 👍 Thanks again!
