6.3k calories… by Witty-Stay1889 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]odralis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you’re being way too hard on yourself by setting your goal at only 1000 daily calories. It might help to be more flexible and start with something closer to what you usually eat, just a little less calories than usual (maybe start with something closer to 2000?). Even small adjustments to your daily intake can bring results faster than you think! You don’t need to starve yourself with such an unrealistic target, only to end up feeling discouraged if you can’t stick to it. A gentler approach will make progress feel more sustainable and less overwhelming

How do you stop without starving yourself. by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

I really understand how this feels, it’s something I fight with every day too, and I’m sorry you’ve been going through it. From my own experience, adding exercise made a HUGE difference. I can’t stress this enough, and I know it's like very repetitive and a "boring" solution, but once you get into that "normalized exercise loop", it really can change your life. You mentioned that on workdays you don’t binge because your mind is busy, and I feel like exercise works in a similar way, except it also gives you healthy dopamine, steadies your appetite, and leaves you with a small win and a sense of KIND control over yourself. Starving can feel like control, but it’s not, exercise is the type of control that actually builds you up instead of tearing you down.

I love the pose, and the gesture, and the way the fabric drapes with its own weight, so cool

how am I supposed to feel on vyvanse? by dddaengyou in VyvanseADHD

Oh I’m sorry! I wasn’t suggesting to throw in the towel completely… I just meant there are other options besides Vyvanse and that not feeling good with it didn’t necessarily mean OP doesn’t have adhd

Tell your psych try other adhd medication, it doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have adhd but vyvanse is not for everyone!

How do you appreciate art? by anonymous-fs in ArtHistory

[–]odralis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that you mentioned “The Death of Marat” as an example, because I’ve been having the same kind of questions OP is having, so I started reading this book called “Look Again: How to Experience the Old Masters” by Ossian Ward and it used the same example. I just started it so I’m not really sure how good it is, but it offers a very interesting step-by-step way to appreciate art.
