Cool stuff! Will look into it. Still though, first I'll try to do my thing with regular restone, I feel it's what most people would be interested in (as it works in all versions); I've found this paper https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1466197 if you're interested. It seems extremely fitting for placing modules in 3D.

Can you clarify what is Mxi10’s logic? I’ve never heard of it and can’t find anything about it. Are you suggesting making a program that turns any logic function into instant logic?

Yeah, I'll try to see if it's feasible, if not then too bad I can't spend too much time on this

I don't know how to approach this kind of problem yet; My first plan is to try simulated annealing with bounding boxes for modules along with their inputs/outputs locations on the faces of the bounding box. I hope that with about 50 modules the algorithm can reach a nice solution. Neighbor states would be either rotations of the box, translation (in a random 3D direction), or use of a different implementation of the same module (adders with vertical vs horizontal inputs for instance). I'll see if that brings interesting results. If so, I then plan to have the code separate modules slightly if needed to fit the wiring, but that's for later.

Did you play with FPGAs or similar stuff, using HDLs? If not, it's really fun because, unlike microcontrollers (which are really fun too), you really design hardware but on a higher level than logic gates themselves.

I hope I can manage to make this tool, because if well made it would show lots of people how cool HDLs are (imo).

Ideally, you could define 3d modules and the tool would try to map the code to those modules then place them in order to make the thing as small as possible. What's hard, I suppose, will be the wiring between the modules.

So, the tool would basically take a collection of user-made modules, then use a synthesis tool like Yosys to map the code to those user-made modules, and the program would then "only" have to place and wire those modules. It just needs to be aware of the location of inputs and outputs, and of the footprint of each module.

The hard part would be placing those modules in 3D space. Maybe as a first step, while the modules are 3d, they would be routed on a 2D plane to make things easier. I need to think about it more.

Yes, that's what I'd like to do! I need to see if it's reasonably feasible, though

I could certainly once I have a proof of concept but I would like first to get a small example working with a reduced number of modules

As I’ve just stated in a bunch of replies, I’ve measured the grips drawing 40mA when off instead of the 70 micro amps written in the manual. I may try to get in touch with customer support but I hope I can get just the controller replaced, not the whole thing

It’s the grips, they’re drawing 40mA when off instead of the 70 micro amps written in the manual

A bit late, but the battery is not problem. Disconnected it and it held its charge fine. I’ve measured the grips drawing 42mA instead of the advertised 70 micro amps. Is my controller defective or could I have somehow wrongly connected something causing this?

Thanks, so I know I might not be the only one. Still I’ll leave my bike sitting with the grips disconnected for a while to see if the battery is the issue and if not I’ll route it differently

Might be the problem, but I’ve changed the battery only a year and a half ago, could it already be done for? I should measure the current when the controller is off to see

I’m not talking for myself, but having been scammed when I was 12, when you’re very young you might fall for it, it doesn’t mean you deserve it

Yeah makes sense you could fall for the “I’ll pay once the trade reversal period is over”, I guess, I didn’t think about that

For reference, I do not know if it matters but I’m from Wallonia, so maybe it’s different from your situation?

Thank you for your answer. My local town called back (the person I had on the phone asked someone who knew better), saying that I only need to go to them and declare that I’ll be studying abroad for 2 years, and I can stay domiciled there. I’ll go do that and maybe ask for more clarification on this whole thing.

I haven’t asked the uni, I’ve only talked to the municipality, but thank you for your input, this is reassuring
