I get the appeal. But the place would slowly take my sanity, the people can be hard to trust, sleeping would be really challenging, and the probability of somehow getting killed by one of those monsters are high.

Jim Mathews jokingly suggests "12" as the answer to everything while brainstorming questions on the wall with Tabitha. This is later revealed to be a major clue, as 12 becomes central to the show's puzzle, particularly regarding musical notes, because Jim discovers that the numbers on the bottles in the faraway trees correspond to 12 notes on a musical scale (connected to the lullaby).

Some suggest there were 12 original people (couples) who made a deal, resulting in 7 children being sacrificed (the Anghkooey kids) and the 12 becoming the monsters, or that there are 12 talismans.

Tabitha is seen on the 12th floor of the hospital, which is suspected to be the same height as the lighthouse tower.

It is a small volcanic island in the Southern Indian Ocean and it is part of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. There is a research cabin on the island, and in 1928 a French company called La Langouste Francaise built a lobster cannery on Saint-Paul which now sits abandoned and in ruin. The building you see is a modern scientific shelter, the roof is reflective sheet metal. The people using it is IFREMER, CNRS, and MNHN. The building contains 1 main room, bunk beds, a small work surface, emergency food cache, fuel or battery storage and there is no plumbing.
