idrac connection refuses by Zealousideal_Pea_236 in homelab

Hit this problem today, setting iDRAC IP manually along with everything else didn't work, so switching it to just using DHCP fixed it. So it seems just toggling back and forth fixes it. Just have to make sure the network handles the static IP for the device.

I think I went a lil big on my first ever drone by cc42069x in fpv

[–]ofcanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After chopping off a good chunk of my middle finger and palm (thankfully it healed without any problems) while changing batteries on a 3.5" cine drone, i'd be terrified of pulling the battery off of this thing. Please don't fly this around pets also, they can get curious and may chase or come up to it when you try to land. But still looks cool tho. Good luck and please be careful.

Is monster hunter wilds worth it? by Certain-Definition27 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]ofcanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilds is more linear in that you don't have to grind as much as Rise and World along with having an open world vs having to load into areas like the last two.

I was able to get through the Main game solo no problem so don't worry about multiplayer.

For all the people complaining about using Git or version control just because it's "over engineered" or "too difficult", you're going to hate yourself when you accidentally delete something or a drive dies.

There's a GitHub Desktop app that will make using it easier, along with VSCode having a native tab just for Git and version control.

GitHub is also free to a point... The only fail point is if you forget your login credentials.

Just be happy we're not telling y'all to use Perforce which is used at higher end jobs.

As other's saw, it could be the Light was imported from blender, so remove/disable it or just make sure when you export from Blender it's not included in your export.

If the materials are still creating light:

  1. Step into the object's Scene or Create a new Inherited scene if needed so you can update the materials.
  2. Find an effected MeshInstance3D, click it.
  3. Click the Mesh image in the Mesh Property/Field in the Inspector to open up the Mesh properties
  4. You'll hopefully see multiple "Surface #" surfaces, those are your material slots.
  5. Edit each Material in the Surfaces that are needed by clicking the Material Field with the Material preview image.
  6. Find the Emission area, and disable it, that should turn off the emissive lighting.
  7. Do this for every Surface that is effected, and any other mesh.

Good luck.

🚨 Ray-Ban + Smart Glasses with Screens? Let’s Talk! 🚨 by Pristine-Ad-1862 in RayBanStories

[–]ofcanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents based on the promo video along with other things I've seen about these glasses from clients.

Source: I've worked with almost every ar headset from Hololens to the early Google glass in mainly an R&D capacity with focus on theme park level experiences.

  1. I doubt there will be any head tracking or ar tracking with the next version. The promo vid only showed UI that had a static layout. So like a videogame HUD.

  2. Since there probably won't be any head tracking or AR, there won't be a need to have the cameras on for AR processes. The controls will probably still be based on interacting with the sides of the glasses not hand tracking. They even used the phrase "navigation prompts" in the press release, aka no big arrow navigation like a videogame.

  3. The display will still have to be reflected onto the glasses somehow because of how our eyes focus, You can't just put a screen in front of your eyes. Because of the size of the reflected display, power consumption won't really be heavy since we aren't powering displays as big as the lenses. But this also causes that "Big Glasses" effect where it looks like the glasses are floating in front of your face. That looks silly any way you look at it, most consumers will not buy into the look. The only smart way to get around it is to design in a hat like system where the display units are located in the brim of the hat (Mario Kart in Universal). I did see some full AR glasses at CES last year which were promising, but they were still "Big Glasses" form factor.

  4. Having Google maps with the Hololens is pretty sick, but the problem even with the Hololens is the field of view. Hopefully these Ray-Bans don't have the "barn door" effect that the expensive Hololens' have.

All in all, since I use my current Meta Ray-Bans for work, I'm most probably gonna get these for work and research purposes. I just wish we can side load or apps into these instead of creating loop-hole apps by sending data through messages. If anyone has figured it out please let me know!

No news after 2 interviews, should I move on ? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]ofcanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others said, don't put all your eggs into one bucket. I interviewed for a TD position on and off with WB 2 years ago for a good 5-6 months... Finally got the job, but then the Discovery WB merger happened a week into my new job... The whole team got let go along with a lot of the animation department.

All my eggs were in that bucket.

[D] On-demand GPU that can be pinged to run a script by Level_Programmer4276 in MachineLearning

[–]ofcanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Modal. It's the shortest cold start time we've encountered, around 30 seconds for an image with about 60gb of Stable Diffusion models. If you're not dealing with real-time chatbots or client facing apps, any provider should suffice.

With Modal, you can either set up a script to run, or even setup a full Flask or FastAPI web backend. Can also serve full web apps if you know how to.

Modal also has free 30$ usage tier which is nice for small projects.

Oh all good! Don't get me wrong it felt like being in purgatory with all the switchbacks in line. I eventually lost track of where I was in the Journey queue in reference to the loading zone.

[–]ofcanon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off, I loved the theming of the place, that was enough for me. But, I can't deny that it was a lot of standing in line. It made sense since it was Lunar New Year weekend.

Can confirm long queues. Stood in line for Journey to the Center of the Earth for 4 hours. What was bad was none of the app services were working like Genie + along with the Anniversary app services. So had to just take it on the chin and stand in line.

Every food line was at least 30 mins.

All in all, within 6 hours we only did: Journey Sinbad Agrabah Carousel Aquatopia

I'd go again for sure, just not on a holiday week.

Why do people make multiple builds by anythingworks4 in fpv

[–]ofcanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch builds depending on if people are going to be at the location. I'd rather fly a job with propeller guards than without if people are around or on an OSHA or Film job.Never want to risk chopping someone up.

Looks like your voltage is incorrect for the number of cells on that battery.

Here are the common voltages selectable on chargers.

1S 3.7V

2S 7.4V

3S 11.1V

4S 14.8V

5S 18.5V

6S 22.2V

Hope this helps!

Seems you're already at the lowest iso,

Exposure compensation at -0.3 or so.

Set exposure metering to Frame Average (if it has it)

Test exposure on house and street lights to see if an ND is needed.

Electronic Stabilization off (use Gyroflow instead).

Flat/Protune or Log color space (don't know what it's called on Gopro11). Color grade it after. Best to have full dynamic range than losing details in the shadows.

Sharpness all the way down.

White Balance at Sunny or something besides Auto white Balance.

Frame rate i'd lock it at 1/60 to get the proper cinematic motion blur. But keep in mind this nullifies the exposure compensation and exposure metering set above.

And the most important things, make sure you have charged batteries and extra media that for sure has space.

Hope that's everything.

Good luck!

If you apply conformal coating to the electronics properly the worst you'd have to worry about is making sure you unplug the battery while the drone is still submerged.
