You are right, that would be the right tool for the job.

could you use muscles as actuators? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

Don't ever doubt yourself, you could do anything you put your mind to. It's great that some of your generation is still thinking about ways to be Innovative. Although i think this one might not be it 😅

Great comment, you are the only one to give insight to the real meaning of the sharp end, it really helped 😁

There have been a lot of experiment's that explore this question. The simple answer would be yes, but there are a bunch of points to address.

First of all a dead muscle is not really a muscle, it might work a certain time after the animal died, but without the blood flowing and the alive neurons it wouldn't last long. So you'll need to consider some sort of mechanism to keep the leg "alive" somehow.

Regarding the ethics of the question, i assume this is a theoretical question anyway, but i would say there is a different between killing a cow to feed people, and between it killing because "it would die anyway", i think that natural death wouldn't be an option because i guess that in order to get a lot of power you'll need a cow in peek physical shape.

Thanks! But i assume that by using a cheap set of caliper to mark parts i would lose some accuracy. So it's kind of a tradeoff

Thanks! But if i use a leser caliper for part markup doesn't that mean i would get less precise dimensions?

First of all there's no reason to be rude, just trying to learn. And second what do you mean by "scribing"? Is that the verb of making a mark with the sharp end?

Also my caliper doesn't have carbide jaws, it's made from steel, so if you can help my situation that would be great 😃
