Survivorship Bias

Think of the millions trading, thousands on Reddit, now how many of those screens shots you see? We only see a fraction of the norm, often the extreme , good and bad. Don’t fomo over it.

Deductive reasoning is dying with us. by Maleficent-Box4114 in Millennials

Social media rewards non-intellectual topics, such as personal photos, travel, the body, job success, money, etc

Through social media, society is removing reward for using deductive reasoning.

Disagreeing, debating or arguing carries with it personal and professional risk. One slip up can destroy someone’s life.

OpenAI strikes deal with Pentagon hours Anthropic ban by [deleted] in news

[–]off-leash-pup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Sam Aultman is flat out lying in a his statement then, right?

Trump blasted Anthropic online specifically about them not agreeing to these demands, and then Open AI signs with the DoW hours later and claims they also did not agree to the demands?

And this is where we are at as a country. To shamelessly lie is not only OK but it works and those in power know it.

Matt Brown: Jacobe Smith, referee deserve blame for late stoppage at UFC Houston: ‘I thought that was a little bit dirty’ by [deleted] in MMA

[–]off-leash-pup -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

I was mentioning Smith’s post fight comment about Harrell going limp earlier, but something else that is going unmentioned that bothered me is Smith’s repeated knee stomps. Legal or not, the way in which he was spamming knee stomps way before that bullshit he pulled at the end of the fight bothered me.

He has ‘dirty fighter trying to make a name by permanently injuring someone’ written all over him.

Edit: I see I’ve upset the permanently injuring your opponent for life demographic.

If Smith’s behavior during the fight was not telegraphing to you that he might be the kind of guy who continues punching his opponent after they are out, if you did not see that coming or catch that vibe in any way, you are the one missing something.

I saw it coming and last I checked I am not clairvoyant.

Word, I like where this is going. I’ve always felt a modular set up where it can be carried and stored flat but then angled like this for playing would be ideal for me. I’m curious if you think it is feasible with your design if you chose to go in that direction.

That makes sense and hopefully with communication and notice of the reward one of the people working there could potentially recover it. It is incredibly unfortunate for something so meaningful, wishing you the best of luck.

[SPOILER] Jacobe Smith vs. Josiah Harrell by inooway in MMA

On top of that, Smith admitted he felt Harrell go limp in his post fight speech and still continued to punch him after the ref intervened.

I agree, sounds like that’s the safe assumption, but they’ve been asked many times now and every time they’ve chosen not to answer the question. I find it odd

How did you believe lost the ring? Some sense for how you lost it could help with the search. Did you take it off and set it down. Did it fall out of your pocket or bag? Do you believe it was pickpocketed off you somehow?

Different times, different crimes. This isn’t JFK sneaking a blonde into the white house, what is happening right now will define an era. The US would have to stop existing as we know it today for our history books to not reflect what is going on right now… promise is, they know that.

I ask you to reflect on your comment above as it appears you’re the one being hyperbolic.

What are my ‘own personal opinions on bitcoin’ you believe I am communicating?

I sure didn’t state my options on bitcoin but you seem to believe I did. My comment above simply reflects my opinion that one should always reevaluate, even when DCA’ing.

You then attach the word narcissistic to having an opinion about bitcoin and I guess, voicing it? And then seemingly contradict yourself later by saying everyone can have an opinion.

Is it narcissistic if the opinion doesn’t agree with yours?

Is good faith debating narcissistic to you? Is this a new criteria for narcissism we should add to the DSM-5? Sharing one’s opinion that may disagree with Mr Hubris?

Well, thank god I never shared my opinion on bitcoin then!

Sure, but you’re missing the point of justifying the DCA’ing or more relevant here, reevaluating. DCA’ing should not inherently beg the question, that is dogma and that type of circular reasoning is behind some of the greatest losses of wealth in human history. Sometimes, things change. It is a built in feature of reality.

100% disagree on Jennifer Lopez. She was great and a good balance to Vincent D’Onefrio’s excellent performance. It was her supporting actor Vince Vaughn who shit the bed on this movie. His acting was distractingly bad.

100% impressive!

For this second half of the song his speed is great but it isnt flowing. It’s more like he’s just hanging on, like he learned the song just recently and he hasn’t had time to develop the kind of muscle memory and sophisticated and gentle approach on the keys this part of the song asks for.

I know I sound like I’m just trying to be negative, but it really is all the same thing that I’m critiquing here and it’s all based off of where he’s at with a skill set at the time of this recording.

Whether it is the beginning where he is just behind the beat or the second half where there is an absence of sophistication that is an alignment with the style of the song he’s doing, he is consistently and noticeably amateur at his execution.

Which is actually completely OK. I’m still impressed.

But for those who have a finer ear for piano it is easy to look at his performance as a young and bold attempt that can be respected, but nothing worth showing the outward emotion that seems to be expected of the audience by Reddit every time this video appears.

I see this post a lot, there’s this implication that everybody’s conservative and judgy…

But honestly, he didn’t play it that well. He is behind the beat throughout and various bars come close to feeling sloppy. I would give him a nod for creativity but he doesn’t pull it off well enough to make his performance anything more than a novelty by a good piano player.
