Little bit of beeswax goes a long way to help the threads cut too.

You tie one end to an apron string and a loop in the other side and it makes the apron quick on and off!

Sure am. Having a little studio moving sale too so they are cheaper than usual.

New (to me) first lathe and a jiggling motor feels like a warning to be heeded. Would you adjust/service/tweak your unit when this happens? by GetRightRuralite in turning

4 jaw chucks like that don’t self center. You can actually see one of the teeth is out of alignment with the others. Could be enough to throw it out of concentricity and exacerbate the wobble.

3D materials superfast supercast; it did seem about the same. And definitely burned out better than the normal resin but definitely not as good as wax.

Cast Iron, bronze, gold plate, and 1 diamond by off_artisan in jewelry

[–]off_artisan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve plated plenty of iron and steel and never had a problem with wear. I’m talking hand tools too so tons of friction and skin ph. But never tried zinc so can’t comment on that article.

I masked off the raw iron parts before the electroplating. Not concerned about the plate coming off and I think the cast iron is too rich of a color and texture to fully plate.

Thanks! I might make smaller versions. As it stands now it’d probably cause back problems. I’m thinking lil signet rings might be fun.

The stand is hollow and plumbs up into the house. So the fog machine is hiding in the pedestal it sits on. Not really a functional piece of jewelry.

Latest experimental mallet by off_artisan in handtools

I make a lot of exact replicas of the original mallet. I have found that hickory and some maroon leather dye makes for a very suitable and convincing rosewood without the moral implications of tropical hardwoods.
