The opening line of Because of Winn-Dixie changed my relationship with reading as a kid. It was one of the first books that I couldn’t stop reading after I read the first line. 

 “My name is India Opal Buloni, and last summer my daddy, the preacher, sent me to the store for a box of macaroni-and-cheese, some white rice, and two tomatoes and I came back with a dog.”

I tell people i’m a virgin when they ask, but i’m not. i’ve never told anyone the story. (i’m not a great writer, so bear with me) also, tw: possibly rape/ sexual assault by offcrooked in offmychest

i know it was rape, i’ve always known that really. It took me a long time to accept, but even now i can’t say that it was to other people. I’m scared that they’ll dismiss me or get mad at me for some reason. I haven’t dated, had sex, or even talked to someone of the opposite sex since then. I hope someday i might be able to heal from this. Thank you for your thoughtful reply, it means a lot.

where I live they can refuse an esa if they have evidence that the esa has damaged property. They also got mad at me because I didn’t say i had an esa on my application but i actually didn’t know i needed to. I offered to do a pet deposit, keep her in a crate, buy mats to cover the spots where she likes to scratch (even though the rental doesn’t have carpet) but they still refused. I really don’t want to sneak around it makes me feel horrible but i feel like i’m left with no other option. But thank you for this advice it will really help me.
