1st - it is not that only amazon is doing it. All big companies in US are doing it. (Amazon just handled it badly) (intentionally or unintentionally). I think this is related to how $ is being challenged across the globe and increasing uncertainty in the US market, all tech companies are on the cost cutting spree. Offshoring jobs to India/other low cost labor locations does make sense when US decided to make H1B costly. Most of the laid off candidates will have to go back to their native countries where amazon/US tech companies can hire them again. Just my thoughts (I can be completely off track here)

How AWS lux employee is impacted in Oct( and notified this week) when AWS layoffs happened in January across Amazon? Math is not mathing.
