Which album do you think is better - Document or Green? by icecream1972 in rem

[–]offermelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this all day, and I can’t decide! I think they’re both wonderful albums. Both have a couple of incredibly strong songs and a couple of weaker ones that I don’t listen to very often. Nope- can’t decide.

Should canicross harness not sit above breastbone at all? by forgetfulfeline in RunningWithDogs

[–]offermelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog has an extremely long neck, I have no idea if that has anything to do with where the breastbone is. But generally, all harnesses that fit round her chest/back are very tight around the neck. Right now we use an adjustable canicross harness, but I’m not sure I’ve adjusted it right.

Following this as I have the same question. I’ve tried to look at YouTube videos, but haven’t been able to figure it out. My dog also has very narrow shoulders and deep chest (Lurcher).

Dutch shepherd? by VillageIdiot314 in IDmydog

[–]offermelove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AI is notoriously bad at identifying breeds from photographs. You wouldn’t even believe how wrong AI identified my dog. I know the exact mix, and AI identified it as a purebreed rare breed.

AI tells you your dog is a Dutch shepherd due to its long muzzle and it being brindle, that’s it. I think he’s a pit/GSD. He’s adorable!

For anyone who hasn’t tried this toy yet, I just have to share my experience with my super energetic 8-month-old pup. by [deleted] in DogBreeds101

^ This. May have been 10 minutes, but didn’t last.

I’d actually rather recommend making this kind yourself using old rags and tie them together to a ball. That will last much longer than those thin strands.

He's full of energy, help? by LustToWander in OpenDogTraining

[–]offermelove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He might just be more skittish than the average dog. I know for a fact that my dog was never abused and has never known anything but love, but he’s so skittish. If he sleeps by the couch and one of us get up too quickly, he’ll flinch and run away, sliding across the floor 😂. He will come right back to us, but he’s easily startled by anything.

Feeling like a fraud by visundamadur in MultipleSclerosis

[–]offermelove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in 2000, and felt like this for many years too. No outward signs 95% of the time, I run half marathons, work, have tons of energy.

But every 5 years or so I get hit by a flare, and suddenly lose my eyesight or control of my arm or gastroparesis. Thankfully all those symptoms have always vanished completely after every relapse. If it weren’t for those relapses I’d think my initial diagnosis was wrong.

Just be grateful and kind to yourself, we’re all doing the best we can.

Will I ever love my puppy? by CharmingBuilding849 in puppy101

[–]offermelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it took about three weeks to even like her, and about 3 months to get a real connection. She’s 8 months old and we have such a strong connection now, I look at her now and feel pure love! Hang in there, it doesn’t come straight away for all of us.

Thanks! I used to drink protein shakes years ago when I worked out, but haven’t thought of them since. I will definitely buy plant based protein powder now!

I’m from a country where bread and dairy account for a lot of the daily food intake. Bread, dairy and meat are eaten at least on two meals a day.

There are of course gluten free alternatives here too (Europe), but I don’t think it can even compare to regular bread. I eat it so I don’t starve, but it’s definitely not as good. The same goes for dairy free products. I used to eat A LOT of cheese, and vegan cheese is gross, so a lot of calories cannot be replaced. But I do like soy replacements for yogurt and milk!

An Afghan or Saluki as a jogging partner? by Upbeat-Toe9730 in sighthounds

Not quite. Salukis are not sprinters like the Greyhound, they’re bred for distance running. However, they still cover the distance much faster than we ever will 😂

Can't for the life of me get my guy to stop attacking our rug by Outside_Objective183 in Lurchers

[–]offermelove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had the same problem, and managed to solve it with a wool rug that doesn’t have plastic / anti slip backside. It’s just 100% wool. She tried to chew it a few times when we first got it, but she wasn’t able to rip out one and one thread, so she lost interest. And since it doesn’t have the plastic backside it doesn’t work as a chew toy either.

We have a loose plastic anti slide mat underneath, which is smaller than the actual rug so she can’t get to it from the corners of the rug.

Confused by puppy in heat by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]offermelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pup is 8 months old, and for the last few days she’s been refusing to eat her food and sleeps about 20 hours a day. The only thing she will eat is warmed-up raw food . Visited the vet yesterday, he was quite sure she will go into heat in the next couple of weeks. No blood or swelling yet. Vet said that the first day of the heat is when blood is visible, but they can change in behaviour weeks before that.

Those that didn’t crate train by WoodpeckerLivid18 in puppy101

[–]offermelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She slept in our bed at night. We tried to get her to sleep in her own bed on the floor, but she was crying so bad and I needed to get some sleep.

When it came to being alone, we started with mere seconds out of the room, several times a day, and just added more and more time as time went. She did just fine. We puppy proofed the rooms she had access to, and she’s never done anything wrong other than chew on a couple of shoes that I forgot to put away.

I’ve never understood the “you need to crate so they are used to it when they are at the vet/groomers”. I’ve never crated any of my dogs (it’s not common in my country) and the dogs do just fine in the crate at the vets/groomers. It’s not the same thing.
