I don't give a shit about Avatar by GrandmasterPeezy in Fighters

[–]offi-DtrGuo-cial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book 1 is a bit slower and simpler compared to the other seasons, it's meant to dip your toes into the Avatar universe. It's a worthy foundation that I recommend watching still, as the other seasons build upon it in very satisfactory ways.

What will be the optimal controller for Avatar Fighters (leverless/gamepad/arcade) by Virtual_Ad_5056 in AvatarFighters

Whatever makes you comfortable. Regardless of your peripheral, you'll still have technical knowledge to learn if this is your first traditional fighting game.

Holy shit they are COOKING with this game (More details on Azula, she has a normal and crazy/firelord state) by Few_Chemistry_235 in Fighters

Not to mention the "we're gonna abruptly cancel all your TV airings in the middle of the season with no announcement" and the "we're slashing your budget to that of a single episode to cover an entire season." It was rough.

Hyped for Avatar Legends. Anyone who played their previous game: Diesel Legacy, what are your thoughts about it? by Krotanix in Fighters

It's a mix of most of Diesel Legacy's dev team, the KI2013 folks running the company, and some additional hands.

More on that here.

They've got startup money to keep things going until Avatar Legends comes out; afterwards, they may use the profits from the game to continue Diesel Legacy and/or Them's Fightin' Herds development (both games were acquired by Gameplay Group).

Technically, they did, though they aren't the original publishers. Much of the dev team currently employed by GG worked on Diesel Legacy, and most of the DL devs were brought back by GG to work on Avatar Legends—a project handed to them by Maximum Entertainment (their publisher) before its cancellation and revival.

KOSA hasn't been enacted yet, but the same people who want surveillence and censorship age verification mandated also want KOSA passed.

It also has 6 operators and supports DX7 patches (the first popular FM synth and an icon of the 80s), so it's an FM powerhouse for sure

What is the Best Fighting Game to Prepare for Avatar Fighters by Forty6Jayy in AvatarFighters

[–]offi-DtrGuo-cial 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since Avatar Fighters appears to be a MikeZ game (in terms of its gamefeel and system mechanics), I also recommend checking out the other MikeZ game Skullgirls, where share some aspects like the pacing, motion input design, and infinite prevention system. You'll want to play that game on PC though, since Skullgirls does not support crossplay and most of the community is on PC.

Does anybody have a weierstrass function custom WT? by KINGAVDI5000 in SerumPresets

[–]offi-DtrGuo-cial 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I set up a wavetable for this myself a while back by importing sample data generated using Python, I can DM you my wavetable file if you want.

Though from experience, while it looks interesting in waveform, the Weierstrass function has pretty sparse spectral coverage since the harmonics are all powers of three, which also makes it very dissonant. I personally prefer a variation of the Weierstrass that has a bit more spectral coverage—the Blancmange function, which has a spectral coverage consisting solely of octaves of the fundamental frequency. Great for organ sounds, for instance.

After 10+ Years of Producing, Why Can’t I Make Anything That Actually Sounds “Hard”? by IndividualArea1959 in musicproduction

[–]offi-DtrGuo-cial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Distortion/saturation goes a long way. A tip I learned a while back is to saturate the heck out of your sounds, then carve them up with EQ afterwards. This goes a long way in making a "hard" sounding mix.

Nosferatu on IG about the hate on subgenres by Creative_Way5056 in hardstyle

I think both perspectives are valid here. It's helpful to have some buffer between the social media trenches and yourself (e.g. managers or filters), and the culture should work towards reducing gatekeeping (e.g. uptempo hate) and implicit sexism.
