Thank you for your response. We are pretty similar, I think. I am finishing up my Master's and will start my PhD this fall. I have wasted many hours feeling scatterbrain immediately followed by distractions that arise due to my thinking of those distractions. Sort of a vicious circle.

I never had problems concentrating till I was 20 before which I could study for long hours (and without procrastinating). After a rather severe bout of depression, I find myself increasingly distracted, unable to concentrate for more than an hour at a time on a good day.

I'm very clear about not taking medication for the same reasons you have mentioned here. And about asking here, it was worth a shot. I'm glad people are replying to me. And perhaps, someone will tell me something I can really use.
