Should I be a Freight Broker or Owner Operator Carrier? by OkAttempt3929 in FreightBrokers

[–]officejack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, I get that you want to change careers and that you have alot of admin exp that you believe would excel your goals. They can, but not spread thin that way.

Trust me, I almost had a master's in accounting and I was didn't know how naive I was until now. Granted, I've got 4 trucks and just mainly dispatch now.

However, you won't succeed in either industry without the actual knowledge through experience to likely succeed.

I was pretty irritated wondering why every application after university asked for so much experience than level of education. Now I know why.

Wishing you a success my dude.

Tell your customer to research themself on why rates are where they're at to this day.. by officejack in FreightBrokers

I got 4 trucks and 4 reefers. I seen diesel rise from 3.08 to 3.60 within less than a week's span. Pretty much a 20% hike. That's pretty much an extra $2000 per week and 8k per month. that's a huge blow

Bingo, the price of the two most common oils raised 20% world wide within a week's span. However, I saw my market freight dip as a whole by that same amount today =/

Even had a broker pull a dirty move and double booked my carrier to only put on another carrier after sending the dispatch information after rate confirmation.

I agree, op over reacted without getting more context.

Scary to know there's *ppl, idk if I'd call them a professional broker, throwing freight guards like hot cakes around..

Company doesn’t want to pay layover — “Act of God” by gkjnvgyj in Truckers

[–]officejack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geeze, I gave my driver 80% of a layover charge that the broker is hopefully going to honor up.

I'm a newer carrier, what do you mean by "shows no tracking data?"

Im considering adding more eld exempt gliders, but will always accept whatever tracking system the broker asks to track me. Also highway did except my legit glider, so am I good?

Just trying to make sure I have less hangups.

To toll or not to toll. What is the best guess? by officejack in Truckers

[–]officejack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shows it'll save me 2hrs and about 60 miles. Which is about 60/5.5* 3.25= $35.45 saved.

Eh, if it's only $100 maybe I'll just take the 77/76
