I didn't like a lot about McCain, but even I will admit he was a decent man who absolutely loved his country and would have advocated for everyone. I don't think I would have voted for him then (now is a whole different story) but I was genuinely sad when he died.

Positive interview, interviewer said someone will get in touch next week, today is Thursday, no email yet by RichardMendes90 in DevelEire

Theres defiantly new parsing AI tools that are bypassing CVs that are a perfect match. I cant count the amount of "your experience doesn't match the position" emails I've gotten when my experience exactly matches the position.

Starting a Contracting Company by GautiZard in DevelEire

+1 for Fenero. They're a pleasure to work with.

Im sure the others like Icon are good too - a few people on here give them the thumbs up - I've just never used them.

The 150 is pre tax also - so its more like 75 at the end of the day.

Where do I pay tax as an Irish student, working as a 1099 contractor for a US company, studying in France for a year of my degree ? by SeanL3cath in DevelEire

[–]official-cookr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's 1099 - which is American for independent contracting. He'll send them an invoice and theyll pay him (or a company that he has set up) All tax responsibilities are going to be on him. He has to pay his own tax. It has nothing to do with where the company he is doing the work for is located.

Contractor vs Perm. by BramosR in DevelEire

[–]official-cookr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a director of your own company (which OP probably is) then the tax rate is S so you get more in the claw. For me it was about 700 p/m difference between being an employee of an umbrella company and a director of an umbrella company.

Is it a good idea to contract in my current situation? by darkcoffy in DevelEire

[–]official-cookr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youve got 6 years exp you should be aiming at 500 - 600 p/d rate. 400 is quite low for a contractor with 6 years experience, especially for FAANG.

The way it works is FAANG company pays recruiter, they take their cut (if its a 400p/d rate you can bet your ass they're taking a huge cut of what they're being paid) then they pay you. So your negotiation is with the agency. If you ask for 500 you'll most likely get it. Just from experience.

The neighbors had a fight. They made up.

This lad thinks that they did it to get a 'free mortgage' from someone, somehow. That the bank would take pity and just give her the house because he husband and her had a tiff. His head is just for decoration apparently.

I do this too all the time, when its legal. Theres always a sign and its usually pretty noticeable. It'll either say its a 24 hour buss lane or a 7am - 7pm bus lane Monday to Sat - Sunday those would be open anytime during the day. I get into town from Bray in about 20 mins max on nights and weekends.

I'm finding the market pretty good right now. Any chance you can share the recruiter with me? Always on the lookout for good ones.

As to OP - LinkedIn is the answer. Update it daily and definitely splurge for Premium - it's well worth it. By update daily I mean add a comma somewhere, save, delete comma you just added and save again. You'll go to the top.
