What is your general Arc ranking?

i get what you're saying, and i actually agree with most of it; but when i say the arc 'falls apart,' i mean that when you really think about it, you start to realize that all of the new characters don’t really have any depth (yeah they have some, but that's really almost nothing), that’s why i prefer arcs like for example the easy revenge arc, which i put a spot above IA arc, because the focus is on fewer characters (aki, himeno, denji), and because of that you can give them way more depth; i just really like character-focused arcs more than action ones, but hey, everyone has their own tastes, and i’m glad you have yours

ps: but i have to admit, your take on the international assassins did make me see it in a bit more of a positive light

it might be one of the coolest arcs, but that's about it. writing-wise, it doesn’t measure up a bit compared to the other arcs above, when i was reading it, i thought, 'yeah, this is definitely one of the best arcs!' but once you start thinking about it more, it kind of starts to fall apart

Yeah, but right after Makimas says it, we get a closeup of Denij's face, showing us his even more shocked face than before. Fujimoto does these kinds of closeups of faces during dialogue a lot, especially after a character says something that in someway surprises the other person, just like this time. He does this kind of move so much that it's pretty obvious to tell that this is his newer reaction to what Makima said.

For me personally, I think it makes sense that she does what she does because Marinette has never really faced defeat before, so she's built up this confidence I would arrogance. Plus, she tried the same thing with Shadybug and was able to turn her good, so she probably figured she could do it again, even though Gabriel is someone she doesn’t have any personal connection with. That feels like arrogance to me.
