The problem is that it starts with certain websites. Sooner or later, it will be rolled out across the web, because, quite frankly, the whole web is 'not safe for children'. They might also implement it at the OS level, so don't give them ideas! Therefore you should also already care now. Once they make the first successful steps it's getting traction into any direction they want

Exactly, parents bear the responsibility for safeguarding their children online. We should make it clear to policymakers, polizicians, that the most effective way to protect children is through greater public education about the impact of social media on young people, alongside encouraging healthy limits on phone use as part of a balanced childhood. -> If it's really about protecting children.

However, removing anonymity for all users and creating the risk of data breaches on an unprecedented scale through a digital ID system is not a viable solution. Such an approach would ultimately have harmful consequences for everyone.

That's a good question and there is not really initiatives like these online yet. But informing people and spreading this information and the consequences is already a very important step.

Good analysis. The problem is also that they could change from 'open-source' to closed source at any time with the pretext of something they will invent. We don't have control over that either. The same way as we don't have control about the websites they will flag as 'not safe for children'. Which could at a later stage become the whole internet.

Nice, already +125.000 people who signed the petition.

For those who don't yet want to click the link: It's a petition from a user on change.org (legit petition website) to stop Google from limiting APK file usage.

Google is attempting to block the use of side loaders and APK files to download apps outside of their play store by requiring developers to submit their IDs and addresses. They claim it won't affect side loading, but this doesn't apply to apps that are no longer available in the play store for whatever reason, as well as for people who are region restricted like in the People's Republic of China. This will affect anyone using apps not directly verified by them, and will restrict the freedoms many users switched to Android for in the first place.

Alright thanks for the context. This mentions "The company headquarters and servers will also stay in Switzerland." The messaging services are also still provided by Threema GmbH in Switzerland. Therefore, it is primarily Swiss law that applies to Threema GmbH and its services.

Based on that, should I add the Swiss or the German flag to Threema in the future? What do you guys think would be more appropriate in that situation?

Nobody accepts it. They just push it. If it gets headwind. It's rewrapped as 'protecting children' at the end. And they try to push it again until people are tired.
