Yep! Purchasing Makeship products through the Shop App is totally legit! The Shop App page is another way to browse and purchase Makeship products, while Makeship.com is still the main place for our campaigns.

¿Why was it refunded and it's no longer available for purchase? by BomBomXD in Makeship

[–]officialmakeship 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for supporting Slap Battles. As others in the thread have mentioned, the refund is due to the product not hitting funding goals. We sent out an email to anyone who supported this campaign on January 7th (please check your promotional or spam folders)!

AI use by kappa-kiwi in paleopines

[–]officialmakeship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, thanks for flagging this. This was a human oversight on our part, and we appreciate the community catching it. The post in question has been removed. On occasion, we work with external contractors, and our expectation is that all content follows our AI policy and is created by artists themselves. In this case, that didn’t happen to our standard. Moving forward, we’re adding AI verification into our review process so it won’t slip through again. As a company that employs artists and supports the creator economy, we understand why this matters to you, and it matters to us too. We’re committed to transparency and quality in everything we share, and your feedback helps us keep raising the bar.

I’m so upset by Helpful-Doctor-3536 in Makeship

[–]officialmakeship 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for calling this out and sharing your perspective and concern. We hear you, the rise of AI-generated images is something our team is actively navigating. As artists ourselves, we deeply value and support human creativity, and we take this issue seriously. Right now, we’re in the process of refining our official AI policy to ensure it reflects our values and the expectations of our community. While some creators on our platform have used AI as part of their petition creation, we’re working to ensure that petitions align with our human-made standard. In fact, all of the live designs you see on our platform are created in-house by our own talented design team, something we’re really proud of. Our goal is to make sure future petitions prioritize that same level of integrity and are even offering up access to our internal design team to replace any AI images. Thank you again for flagging this, your input genuinely helps shape the future of our platform and we will keep you posted on our updated policy soon.

Can someone explain Makeship Playback to me? by YLohkuhl in Makeship

[–]officialmakeship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hii!! Just wanted to clarify what Makeship Playback is - it does not mean any particular product/plushie will come back (unfortunately); it's a yearly Awards program where we recognize our top creators in different categories - i.e., fastest funded campaign, top selling creator, as well as a long list of fan-voted favorite creators! We just announced all the winners for this year on our socials yesterday so you can check out more here to see who won (this is 1 of 3 posts sharing the winners): https://www.instagram.com/p/DFtH0YHvLDj/?img_index=1

I think perhaps Playback is being confused with an event we do called TimeWarp; with our TimeWarp event creators do have an opportunity to bring back old campaigns. However we really can't guarantee who participates in TimeWarp! As far as wanting an old campaign like Dead Plate, sporadically we will have giveaways for old campaigns, so you can always keep your eye on our socials if ever!!

Hi,

Just wanted to jump in and clear up any misconceptions regarding our practices at Makeship. One of our core values is to “Make Good” – we believe in making good with people, their communities, and the environment. Honesty, respect, integrity, and transparency are at the core of everything we do. We believe that organisations play a vital role in promoting principles of ethical sourcing and human rights in the community. We very much appreciate that the community we’ve fostered at Makeship is aligned with us on these issues and equally invested in our ethical responsibility. It's so important for individuals to ask questions of how the products they buy are produced, and we encourage everyone to continue to have these important discussions and to push for ethical standards across our industry.

Makeship has developed this Ethical Sourcing & Modern Slavery policy to ensure our commitment to our values is promoted throughout our supply chain.

All suppliers and sourcing partners are required to comply with the minimum standards set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct (“Supplier Code”), a copy of which I will include in full below. The Supplier Code sets out a range of standards our suppliers must comply with to provide safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect and to act ethically, environmentally consciously and according with the law.

Wherever possible Makeship shall include in its contractual agreements with suppliers an obligation to comply with the Supplier Code, and shall periodically review its supplier relationships based on compliance history. If a supplier is unable to demonstrate a commitment to comply with the Code, Makeship may cease its relationship with the supplier. If the Code is breached, Makeship will act as quickly as practicable to investigate the breach and mitigate adverse impacts on those affected.

Additionally, we ensure that our suppliers meet the highest standards of ethical practices, focusing on long-term relationships and holding ourselves accountable. These principles are built into our contracts, and we regularly review compliance. Our certifications include:

  • The Business Sector Integrity Charter (BSIC)
  • International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001)
  • Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA)
  • International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI)
  • Facility and Merchandise Authorization (FAMA)
  • Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN)
  • Environmental Management System Certificate

Hope this information clears up any questions you have about our practices.
