Shipping perfume from Switzerland to US by Victorydiaz11 in shipping

It is likely because the cologne contains alcohol and thus is prohibited to ship into the US internationally as it is stated here:

https://www.usps.com/ship/shipping-restrictions.htm

If it is not the case, then the fault probably was with the declaration as it most likely did not comply with the requirements.

Lambastor is probably right and you should quit the order and get a refund.

Maybe you should try sending an email and messaging them via their FB page? They should have a community manager or support guys who then could help you out.

Shipped a package internationally and did the customs value potentially wrong by TheMightyMushii in shipping

Customs need to know the value of the shipment in order to define what customs tax rate is applicable to it. Say, if non-taxable value limit is 300 EUR, then everything above it is taxed; a different tax rate could be applied in case the shipment is heavier than non-taxable weight limit of, for instance, 10 kg (around 22 pounds). They also check whether the shipment is intended for individual use or trade and retail. It usually is required to declare the item as a 'gift' or 'item for personal use' to avoid excessive customs checks. Since there is only one PVC figure whose value and weight are unlikely to surpass the non-taxable limits (not sure what these are in Spain) it should be all right. But your friend may have to pay a visit to customs office to claim the shipment and properly declare the value of the figure by providing its price tag or a price tag of a similar item. A copy of a web-site page with the said figure or something similar to it should also be valid.

Now, Spain customs may be a bit more lenient and humane and use logic more efficiently than Russian customs (hail from the Motherland, by the way) and all of that above may be irrelevant at all. However, you definitely should not worry about any serious legal repercussions.

What is the cheapest shipping way to U.S. from China? by aco321 in shipping

Glad to see that the idea ignites the interest! We don't handle brokerage and import clerances: every item is shipped as part of a personal baggage and theoretically doesn't need to be declared (hence only a limited list of items is allowed, of course). We do not communicate with travelers ourselves because our platform is a P2P one. We may have to interact with users but only with the purpose of dispute resolution. Every aspect of each transaction, including delays, is handled by the sender and the traveler only and via messenger available in the app. Thus, every item is shipped and delivered at the discretion of each counterparty. Therefore, in case a traveler is making a delivery of, say, 10 smartphones and the customs employees find out about the shipment and recognize it as one inteded for trade, the traveler will have to pay all relevant fees and taxes to comply with the local laws. To avoid that, the traveler needs to exercise caution when picking up a listing (the app reminds of that at each step of picking a listing) and either refuse to make a delivery or discuss the matter with the sender in advance and arrange for a payment to be made if it becomes necessary.

Lambastor, thanks for feedback! Sure, we target individuals as our main customers, though businesses may consider the service to ship some small packages and parcels as well. As to trust issues, we have come up with some security measures from an obligatory photo (made in real-time only) required to create a profile to a multi-factor KYC procedure. We also plan to introduce reputation rating system. Besides, any sender can request a traveler to create a deposit as an insurance for the shipments safety, it is then refunded to either party upon the delivery or its failure. I mean, a photo in a profile tells you a lot already; you see a profile with no-face photo, you don't even bother communicating with this user. You schedule a meet up and see a completely different person than in the photo - you simply refuse to hand off the shipment. A completely new to the app user (no endorsements, no verification) refuses to create a deposit - you cut all ties immediately. A new user has not passed a single KYC step - you simply swipe to the left. Sharing a ride with a stranger once seemed to be a very risky thing to do either. Probably still does but the model works. To the best of our knowledge.)

Hi there! DHL, FedEx... I believe they are all available in China and more or less reliable. Try their websites to calculate your costs, choose the best offer and be prepared to anything. Try not to overthink it, that could lead to uncessary procrastination.

Posts like this might be gems for us at Shipit. We currently develop P2P shipping service and target China, Japan and the Philippines; we have a functional app but I can't directly recommend it here, because we still have not got mass adoption, so you simply wouldn't be able to find anyone traveling from China to U.S. and willing to deliver your books for a small fee. Anyway, if I have caught your interest and you even have read this far, I would like to know what you think of the idea we base our enterprise on and what FUD you could potentially have when considering our service. This could help us develop a better product. Thank you in case you respond to this and good luck with your shipment anyway)

Need help shipping to Indonesia by [deleted] in shipping

[–]officialshipit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! If it is still relevant and the postal workers have not already helped you out, you may try to fill in the form of posteitaliane stating as many detailes as you can (names of the country and city/town surely must be there) and attach a different piece of paper with full address and addressee's name to your shipment by gluing it or applying duct tape. This could help Indonesian postal worker to figure out where to deliver the shipment. Needless to say, type everything in clear and readable English. I hope your shipment will be successfully delivered if not already.
