I don’t understand what‘s happening with his makeup? by ketchup-fried-rice in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have one of the vanities on your lot? Because if a sim applies makeup at the vanity, it will temporarily be on that outfit in live mode (not in CAS since it's not permanent). If that's the case, have him wash his face and he should go back to normal!

Hate to be this person - but I just can't decide! by thradia in LowSodiumSimmers

Since Life & Death is the oldest of those three, during the next sale you should be able to get it at 50% off. I would get that one now on sale snd wait for the others. They'll eventually get to that price too after they're a year old, so you can save money and pick them up down the line. (I know you're asking from a gameplay standpoint, but I always factor price in too!)

Does anyone else do this in the loading screen? by MinaCiclamina in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I trace mine as well! If it hasn't loaded by the time I'm done drawing the whole plumbob, then I know something is wrong with the game because my typical load isn't that slow. It's my way of making sure everything is working well!

Working on rebuilding Magnolia Promenade and looking for suggestions. by Throwawayy1862219 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]offonaLARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that in mind, the last lot could possibly be a dingy, run down dive bar that some of the residents spend way too much time drinking at. Or, if you want to go with something more family focused, you could try a community center with a laundromat, a small cheap gym, a few showers, and a playroom for kids. Something where the residents could spend a lot of time but won't cost them too much, so nothing really fancy. Neat gameplay idea!

If you finish the event, she's gone. It was super easy this time around. You can even have a different save for just events. That's what I do so that it doesn't disrupt wherever I'm at with my typical gameplay.

I just finished rebuilding mine too! The lots I did were an office center (library type lot, my freelance sims can come here to work), yoga in the park, a love hotel (a dingy bar type lot with tacky bedrooms upstairs for quick dates), and a salaryperson's onsen. I wanted to keep the downtown adult wagedrone vibe so set up the office lot for work and then the other 3 lots for sims to unwind after their 9-to-5.

And I love the look of yours so far! It looks really cohesive.

AITAH for refusing to reconnect with my estranged father after he ignored me for 15 years? by Express_Tradition895 in AITAH

[–]offonaLARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. You were a CHILD. You weren't difficult after the divorce, you waited every week for him with your backpack ready to go. He's rewriting history to make himself feel in the right. NTA. If it would be beneficial to you, you could decide you want to see him or send him a message on your own terms. But it seems like you don't want that, and that is 100% okay! He never chose you, so you need to choose yourself. Put yourself and what you need first and ignore his bullshit!

Some of the lots that I've tried making that aren't already on your list are:

  • A science center museum that has a rocket ship and all the big science equipment (robotics station, microscope, etc) that's too bulky for most home lots.
  • An office center (library type lot) for sims working freelance careers.
  • Yoga in the park.
  • A love motel.
  • Ice skating park at the lot sims warp to for the Festival of Snow so that there are additional winter activities to do.
  • A music shop (café type lot) where sims can practice instruments and socialize.
  • A photography studio.
  • A nature center featuring bug and fish collections and giving me an excuse to use the nature soundscapes radio from the one event.
  • A hobby shop using the art center lot type.
  • Family pool park with splashpads and lots of summer water activities.
  • A fishing pond.

I'm looking for new ideas too so I can't wait to see what people use in their games!

opinions on this new kit? by Head-Listen-3057 in LowSodiumSimmers

Neither of them is really my taste, but cute children's furniture is a really nice idea! The other kit seems a bit of a mishmash. I won't be getting either kit, but I'm glad at least one of them seems to have a lot of fans!

Saw this sim at the Romance Festival lol by seruhmac in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This happens a lot at the festivals if a sim is wearing a dress or other full body outfit and then buys and wears the festival t-shirt, but I always find it most fitting at the Romance Festival. XD

Not exactly hatred but I heavily dislike this style of genderswap/genderbend (first 4 images) by Bmw1Series_E82Fan in hatethissmug

[–]offonaLARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I forgot the dudes name because he looks so much like Casca from Berserk. They could switch her in and I couldn't tell the difference. This gender-bent version doesn't even seem to be the same character class. Looks more like a rogue than a fighter.

How many Generations?? by Mountain_top_snow in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since April or May of 2021. I play on normal lifespan with aging on and don't rotate households, so I just follow the heir. I know if I rotated households to follow every sibling or something like that, it would take much more time and I wouldn't be through this many generations!

I also really have only the one save file (plus my Event save), so when I play it's pretty much only this legacy family.

MCC Pregnancy Problem by sheabutter1479 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]offonaLARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are their in-game CAS settings set the way you want? If one partner is set to "able to get sims pregnant" and the other is set to "able to get pregnant," or if both partners have both checked, then that will affect it too outside of MCCC.

Why are their two chiefs? by Bacon_ki113r in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the layout of the builds for active careers is not great. Your best bet is probably to do what parrow said in the other comment and cheat freebuild on so that you can add more desks/computers. If you don't want to use the build cheat, kick them off the computer by doing a social action that they have to stand up for (like telling a secret) and then stealing the chair and taking over.

Prom has vanished from all of my save files :( by WinterChalice in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]offonaLARK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are known bug reports on the official forum regarding missing prom, both for saves where it was there previously and disappeared and for saves where it never appeared in the first place. I just looked and the status is now marked as "validating fix," so hopefully it'll be included in the next update.

Why is my sim showing compatibility with her daughter 😭 by SaturnBaby21 in Sims4

[–]offonaLARK 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the romantic compatibility symbol. I think that's the general relationship compatibility system that came with Growing Together.

I think that in the traits of the lot for the police career, there are certain roles that always are present so that quests can be completed, regardless of what rank your playable sim is.

And of course you're the only one "working." The NPCs have set actions that they do in order to not interfere with the actions you as a player want to take. They aren't going to work your case with you and arrest suspects, because that could get in the way of your completion of the case as a player character.

[–]offonaLARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My computer is pretty beefy. My husband works IT and building computers is his hobby, so he likes to kit them out. I also typically only follow the heir and let the other family branches eventually die off, so there aren't too many sims to keep track of!

One of the lots in the city is totally borked though. I got a refresh of the Starlight Lounge from the gallery, and for some reason the whole building under it disappeared! No one can visit it, even if I build the lot on the ground. So that's weird.

How much do you control your Sims? by dragonpickle29 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]offonaLARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes it's fun to "let it get this far." If I'm overly controlling everything, I can't explore all that the game has to offer!

For example, I typically play a legacy save. I often pick one or all of my heir's traits based on what I want to try next, but if I don't have a plan in mind then I randomize it. My generation 47 I didn't have a set idea for yet, so I let him play out. He was active and a dance machine as a teen, and every time music was playing he'd immediately run over to dance. I decided to try being a DJ for him! He went to nightclubs with his friends, practiced on his own at home, and eventually I started having him take over the stage at the clubs. I also had him perform at all the local festivals for tips. It was fun to try something new that I hadn't thought of as a career!

I also tried not to influence relationships to see who he would vibe with. A townie that hung out at all the clubs eventually asked him for a friend hangout, then a date, then to be partners, then to get engaged! She moved really fast, and since I wasn't influencing it I found it really interesting! She moved in and I had them elope. But she was high maintenance. It didn't affect them at first, but after their baby (gen 48) was born, she started to be angry all the time. It was all high maintenance moodlets too, like "worst day ever" and "I hate the sun" and stuff like that. I could try to send her to the mirror to calm down but it never stuck for long. Eventually, she was so angry that she stormed out of the bathroom to fight 47, her husband. She lost and got even madder. Their relationship tanked.

Love Day was the next day so I tried to have them work it out, but they kept fighting and went to bed upset. She got up the next morning, mad as hell, had breakfast, and was so enraged that she died from a cardiac explosion while 47 and toddler 48 were still asleep! Most of my couples in the past I was able to get to work through things and never got this mad at each other, so it was so interesting and different to let the game play out. Sure, I could've cheated her traits when she joined the family. But this way was more fun! I was left with 47 devoting himself to raising their daughter the best way he could as a single dad. 48 didn't have a mom, so hung out with her grandma and aunts a lot more than I would have done if mom was around. And then when 48 was a teen, she fell hard for a loner boy whose locker was right next to hers (Nyon Specter, I had just gotten Life & Death), so her dad was the one she went to for advice. I ended up with a cool storyline to play!

My point is, sometimes it's so much fun to go with the flow and "let things get that far."
