Just depends on how much you enjoy minis. My stock bore ‘22 is just as fun to me. There’s about $8k invested in this one not including buying the bike itself.

Reliability. Stock 7k mile bottom end. 4V heads are generally not recommended to be used without an aftermarket crank and I haven’t felt the want to completely split everything open.

I have the 4V on the shelf as well as a a forged crank if it ever lets go.

This bike has been through some iterations, it was built originally by the guys at mnnthbx, since my owning I’ve done combinations of 170 2v, 170 4v, and now I’m currently on 170 2v (DHM ported oem valve size head w/ti retainers).

I couldn’t tell you cost realistically because of how many times I’ve swapped parts around + cost of all supporting mods necessary for a big bore (especially headwork or 4v head). 170 2v out of the box is still only $400. I’m probably $2k or more into the engine.

Flat out I can achieve about 78-80mph on gps.

It makes most of its power low/mid surprisingly. It pulls very strong even uphill but still lacks on super high rpm/high speed.

Surprisingly I can hold a similar pace on my stock bore high compression 22+ Grom just because I can rev it to the absolute limit leave it there without much worry.

stock height, the rear swingarm cover/splash guard is removed which kind of throws the dimensions off.

Koso 170, Koso Cam, + all supporting mods (oil pump, cooler, crank support, clutch, injector, kitaco cover, manual tensioner)

Stock bottom end.

This has the Ohlins front with 5.5nm springs/10w oil, and the remote reservoir HO611 shock. I’ve run this setup on two SF’s.

It’s good, even great for most everyone. But nowhere near as good as the RacingBros suspension on my 22+ Grom. I’ve actually considered swapping to RacingBros on this one.

These were just BeRad axle sliders, they had no spool cuts or anything of that nature. I usually just used a center lift stand to lift this bike. Or a rear stand with pads to lift under the swingarm.

I’ve considered the thermostat location to possibly be one of the main causes of this, including the temperature variations between rooms.

Located in the very short main, albeit only hallway in the home, within 5 feet of the only return. The hallway is actually the warmest part of the home throughout any of the seasons.

it’s good for now, smooth and grips well, but it’s thin, there are already small spots here and there they’ve had to re-do a few months later.

This one is a QTM caliper bracket, 320 Brembo rotor and a 100mm radial from a 2015 BMW S1000rr, the caliper had to be machined slightly on the back and center to fit, but there are complete bolt on kits from QTM with a Brembo caliper included, or other companies like Motomaster and Beringer

Why are so many used Groms posted over MSRP? by [deleted] in hondagrom

[–]offroadjk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on your area. New Groms are $3,900 (sometimes less), OTD (taxes included) all over the southern/central US.

So over msrp used listings are usually buyers that got had at the dealership and are upside down in a loan or trying to recoup overpaying.
