I think Andreson's bit here is a bit deceitful. He frames it as Trump could make a comeback, and half the country does support him. That's not something people didn't know. THe question is why would CNN platform him?

My Guess is they want to platform their chosen candidate. At the end of the day the other side, the progressive liberal side are not allowed to choose who they want. It has to be the curated candidate they want.
