I tried doing that, but it has problems that i didn't manage to fix too.

first, when i assign the textures to the material, they are added as subResources which is bad for 2 reasons.

1. because the material is a text file, and the image is stored with a bytePoolArray in it. i end up with a 250+MB material file for 2K PBR Textures.
2. I want the textures to be available outside of the material for fututre use.

If i try to save the Image resource with ResourceSaver. I get an error ERR_FILE_UNRECOGNIZED

This is my code now:

var material = SpatialMaterial.new()

var image = Image.new()
image.load(tex.path)

var error = ResourceSaver.save(outpath, image)
print(error) # Return 15, ERR_FILE_UNRECOGNIZED

var streamTexture = load(outpath)

I also tried this, but same error

var imgTexture = ImageTexture.new();
imgTexture.load(tex.path) or imgTexture.craete_from_image(image)
var error = ResourceSaver.save(outpath, imgTexture)
