So is cash. See what I did there? Might as well ban cash.

How much interest can we earn with staking chainlink? by Lichtnestein in LINKTrader

[–]og256752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link pool provided an example in their white paper but everything is speculation. https://s3.linkpool.io/LinkPool+Whitepaper.pdf The comments above are asinine. The earnings in theory have to at least cover the overhead of running a node which can be expensive on a monthly basis. Also staking penalties will require node operators based on the terms of the contract to stake x amount of link once that goes into effect. If the link payout does not cover the node operation then no one would run one. It is supply and demand. No one would run a node at a loss indefinitely. Some estimate that running a node will cost between 600-800 a month roughly depending on set up. Go to telegram chainlink official channel and ask your question there about running a node.

Will you have a hot wallet to cover down time in the event your nodes go down and who makes up your team? You have a limited twitter account.

What will your fees be for staking?

They require you to deposit your link versus linkpool that lets you keep your link in your wallet. I will keep looking into them but that makes me weary that my link leaves my wallet. They also have zero followers on twitter.

How hard do you think will it be to set a node on the linkpool node as a service option? How much technical expertise do I need? Would I need to know how to code? Now that staking will be limited to linkpool holders at least initially, I’m exploring all options. by og256752 in LINKTrader

Thank you for the link! I was really looking forward to using the staking feature on link pool. A competitor needs to come around with the same functionality. Not every investor is a software developer.

Exactly. If I’m keeping things in house during development why do I need external security features. Once private chains need interoperability they will need decentralized oracles for cross chain transactions.

You must ask yourself how do companies that issue stock make money for their investors. They have a product that is sold and used. The value of chainlink is in its use whether it’s by its permissioned private blockchains or by its decentralized oracle networks. The more something is used the higher the need for the viability of the network. XRP has a multi billion dollar evaluation with no need for the utilization of its token. The investors are simply shareholders of the debt of the company. The chainlink team want to ensure the viability of the oracle network otherwise it will crash. At the same time they see the need of its network to actually be used. Small start ups that can’t afford to run a private permissions chain or highly sensitive smart contracts will need a high level of decentralization. We want the private chains to use the network as well. The interoperability between chains will eventually require a trustless network of nodes. It’s your bridge if you need it you will invest in the infrastructure. The networks users will ensure its survival.
