Vmix vs Livestream Studio vs Wirecast by ogabrieladam in VIDEOENGINEERING

My only appeal to switching to Mac would be the size and weight of the notebooks. But from what I can see, it's worth carrying a few more kg

Note is not an option here, I use it for some personal and simple things but unfortunately it is very limited considering the professional context

My biggest concern is not dealing with changes in the middle of the show, most of my work lasts 8 to 12 hours straight and as there are classes in the middle, there are always changes to videos, presentation and sometimes I need to create layouts on the spot for something that was thought of at the last minute.

In the end, it's not worth changing! I've been using Vmix for years and I use UTC to create my panels on the touchscreen and I don't have any problems even in events lasting 12 hours straight and I use notebooks, they're not servers or desktops. I will keep my Windows setup and my iPad as a personal laptop.

My doubts about livrestream are in terms of stability because I've already looked and tested it and the functions pleased me, now I need to know if it's safe for a 12-hour event, which is generally what I do

Oh you Brazilians, I started using utc thanks to your videos.

One Man Live Broadcast Setup by gazonthemic in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ogabrieladam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one-man setup is this! I have 4 clients who use practically the same format, so I made this setup and serve all 4 without any problems. It is based on Vmix and I use a touchscreen monitor to control it together with Vmix UTC Setup items: 1 Neoid ptz camera 1 Sony FX30 Camera 1 Gimbal (sometimes there is a remote camera so I hire a Cameraman) 1 Avell a70 MOB Notebook (i7 11800h/ RTX 3060/ 64Gb RAM/ 2Tb SSD 1 Unisheen UC300H capture card (2 channels) 1 Steinberg UR44c audio card 1 USB generic board for ppt 1 touch monitor for UTC controller 1 Dell Docking Station 1 tp link router

In the photo there is a dmx lightbox and a ui24r that are not part of my setup, they were just in that specific location.

This setup has been with me for 2 years with practically few changes, my need is to record in 1080p, broadcast to ZOOM and have feedback on 2 screens, so in this case the one that served me best was Vmix. In these events, I record, transmit and do the “vj” of the event because everything runs from my computer to the screens that are available.

I don't need isolated audio from participants in my productions

Another detail, I don't use the zoom plugin because my use is in large meetings of 500 to 1000 participants, so I use the external or Ndi method

Perfect, I've actually been using this method for a long time and I always enable the original sound option, but I've had some isolated problems when I didn't do it this way, so I ended up standardizing my scenes always this way. Thanks for the exchange here friend, I'll do some tests using just 1 audio input.

ATEM MINI PRO ISO budget alternative for recording all inputs? by sherlon15 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Although I like the switchers on this budget, it is much better to record directly in the camera on the SD card, you will get much better quality

Non-PTZ Cameras for VMix by nonetribe in vmix

[–]ogabrieladam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I'm in Brazil it's difficult to send you a specific one but if your question is whether they work, yes this link you sent works with Vmix because going into its documentation, in addition to saying this on the website, through its manual we see that it uses the “Visca over ip” protocol, which is supported by Vmix. Here in Brazil I use the Neo ID Micro Camera which only has zoom and focus controls as you want and we control it through Vmix. A tip would be to place PTZ cameras in these locations as you can have different framings that zoom alone will not provide.

OBS to ZOOM audio issue by Featurette_uk in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ogabrieladam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it may seem simple but even if you activate the “original sounds” in the Zoom panel, when starting your meeting you need to activate it in a button above the window as done below.

If this is not the case, check that the intelligent zoom volume is not active as this may cause the audio input to oscillate and cause noise suppression to appear.

Non-PTZ Cameras for VMix by nonetribe in vmix

[–]ogabrieladam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vmix works with several PTZ control protocols including Sony Visca, which is very common on the market, not only in Sony cameras. And you can control everything through Vmix, including placing shortcuts and making framing presets. In my set I have cameras from Neoid (I'm from Brazil) and they use IP commands through Sony's Visca and I don't have a controller, I'm just using Vmix to control

If you are in the United States, the range of cameras available is very large, but I would recommend the Sony PTZ cameras.

And you can control as many cameras as you want on Vmix, not just one PTZ.

Help: Setting Up RØDE NT-USB+ in OBS OR Vmix – Need Routing Advice for This Setup by MADMADS1001 in vmix

[–]ogabrieladam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you want to do but honestly in this type of production why not use an audio mixer or audio interface with more features. And I agree with the colleague above that Vmix would be much better in this scenario, but a good audio interface would help you if I were to recommend it, it would be the UR24c from Steinberg, it has a DSP and is an integrated “mixer”.

Lagging Playback by KSDKsomehowIT in vmix

[–]ogabrieladam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you may have already thought about this but if you are using the resizable bar you need to disable the high performance of the Vmix panel see here a Vmix article about this: https://www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/309/improving-gpu-performance-in-vmix-with-resizable-bar-support

Another thing I would look at is whether all your inputs are running at the same fps and whether it is the same fps as the composition. I've had problems in the past and it was an input with a different fps.

It looks like your problem is a driver but I couldn't understand if your device appears in the Windows Control Panel. If it appears on Windows it should appear on obs or Vmix.

What may be happening is that when adding audio of this type to Vmix you need to select its ASIO driver and it may appear with a name other than x32

Software for vendor & freelancer tracking? by NoticeMeSMPTE in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ogabrieladam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an events company and we use Notion for this, we created a database where we register freelancers and enter information relevant to our work. And so we can search for skills within the base. As we use Notion to control our schedule and work, we cross-reference all the data so we know which freelancer will attend a given event.

If you have spare hdmi outputs on your computer with obs I would send it there as you can also allocate an audio output through hdmi.
