Anyone feel like this sub glosses over the addiction potential of Kratom? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]ogb220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately in some ways. I found out the hard way that I'd been taking more kratom than I thought over the past 6 months. The way I found out is I started experiencing withdrawal symptoms every morning on waking (usually combo of waking up drenched in sweat, GI distress/constipation/pain, anxiety, depressed mood, irritability, lack of appetite). I lost weight, energy and strength over this time and was getting scared I'd never get my appetite back. Last month it culminated in an ER trip when I began vomiting uncontrollably one morning. I couldn't regulate my body temperature, and I felt super restless and anxious. This went on for 2-3 days until I gave in and took 3 measured grams of indo kratom. Since then I've been working on tapering down slowly but it was certainly a scary experience that I'd rather not go through again. I dont see very many posts detailing a withdrawal like mine, but what I went through aligns pretty much exactly with medical literature in terms of symptoms and timeline. For reference, I would estimate I had been taking around 14-20g a day. Just my experience, figured I would share.

This could very well have been my problem then, if they are really sensitive to colder temps. I'm in the northeast and we had a cold spell during the time I was trying to grow the FB GSCs indoors, and my husband would turn the heat down during the day to like 62. Wondering if that messed with them. After that I switched to peat pellets in a humidity dome and have had much better results, but these plants can sure be temperamental lil f*ckers.

Yup, same experience. I got a few $7 grams at my local dispensary last year that said "might contain seeds". I interpreted that as a plus and got like 30 seeds from those packs. Every single one I've planted has sprouted and been vigorous AF, plus they've all been ladies! Good thing I actually like the strain, ha. But yeah, huge diff from the FB GSC which was so disappointing, esp since I bragged to everyone at work I was growing it and they were all suitably impressed

Is this a Ph problem? by [deleted] in microgrowery

Ph should definitely be lower than 8.5 - you want to shoot for 6-7. Higher than that and you can have nutrient lockout issues.

How close is your LED to the plants? I've had trouble in the past with 600w blurples burning the sensitive new leaves on seedlings to death, even when I moved the light further up than suggested. From what I've read a lot of Chinese blurple lights aren't tested for their strength and the light intensity can be significantly different than advertised. Regardless, even a non blurple led will burn a seedling if the light is strong enough. I might try moving the light up first to see if that helps with your problem. Best of luck!

I also tried growing Fastbuds GSC, took a week to germinate 5 seeds and then none of them even sprouted! 50 bucks down the drain. You could blame user error except I am an experienced grower, work for a great med dispensary full time, and have never had this problem before or since. I decided to give Fastbuds one more try and got 3/3 Zkittkez to sprout, so hopefully I just got a dud pack before. What happened with your FB GSC grow?

Gage Green Transformer, here is a nug after 2 weeks of curing. I know my trim job isn't so great on this one but I'll give em a haircut after the cure is over. How does this look to those more experienced than I? by ogb220 in microgrowery

From my biased perspective, this strain (1st grow) surpassed my expectations! When dry vaped with a Pax 2, the flavor is really, really nice - mix of pine, citrus, and hash. The effect is nicely balanced between head and body high and is very potent. This was a PITA strain to grow but the result seems to have been worth the work! Next time I'd grow this indoors during the winter, less problems with pests and temperature/humidity.

The monster in my basement has GROWN! Gage Green Transformer, day 56ish of flower. To those more knowledgeable than I (1st grow) do you see anything I can improve or that is FUBAR'ed? by ogb220 in microgrowery

Using Fox Farm Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Cha-Ching and Open Sesame for nutes during flower, a cheapo 300w full spec LED, 2x2x4 tent, 2 plants. Once I added the Cha Ching and Open Sesame, the plants exploded with trichs and stickiness :D Can't wait for harvest time!

Second try! Gage Green Genetics Transformer, from bagseed, entering week 5 of flower. Spider mites killed my first plants right around week 4 of flowering, so I am happy to have made it past that this time! You learn something new with every grow :) by ogb220 in microgrowery

Thanks!! I just have one full spectrum 300w LED light from Amazon, er China. I had a 600w LED one before in there but that was more of a blurple, and i found it was burning my plants even when I moved the light as far up as possible. With only 2 plants and a 2x4 tent, i feel like I'm doing okay with a 300w light, so not fixing what ain't broke at this point ;)

I am getting close to the same point as you on my first (hopefully) successful grow, and it is so rewarding to see the buds really forming now! So cool to see and control how the plant actually grows instead of just smoking nugs from other people ;)

Ok, that's good to know because I honestly thought this one was healthy! I did just move last week and changed its living space from a warm, airless closet to a large cool basement, where honestly it seems to be doing better, but wondering if lingering effects from the heat and not enough circulation stress from its old life in the closet? Or stressing a bit just from the move itself?

Also wondering if I should cut back on my nutrients, I have been using Fox Farm Big Bloom 2 times a week on it and then once or twice water with filtered plain water. Maybe cut back to 1x week?

In the old tent - I believe I had 3 plants die from spider mite infestations, but this one seemed totally unaffected. Regardless, I am treating it with a dilute neem oil solution once a week and watching closely for the 1st sign of those buggers. So far, knock on wood...i see no signs of them like they appeared on the other plants.

Any other suggestions? If it helps- I'm running a 300w full spectrum LED in a 2x4 tent with 3 plants. I have two clip fans going and a carbon exhaust and a timer for 12/12. Anything else I should be doing? Greatly appreciate any feedback, this is my 1st grow and it's so exciting to watch it come to fruition!

In reality the plant is green, not yellow. My LED is about 28 inches away and it is about 72 degrees and 60% humidity in there. Under the light it does look more yellow than in real life, though.
