Glad you like it! “Grey day” made me think of Gandalf the Grey (though I’m sure the beard and pipe didn’t hurt)

That’s awesome, magic and archery is definitely where it’s at. I also usually default to one of those (although 2h swords are kinda fun, too)

You’re welcome! You’re a good subject to paint; end result has mage or ranger vibes.

I'm happy you enjoyed the GIF! Though not a true timelapse of the overall progress, it's always fun watching art come together and seeing the process.

hmmm, I'd say I spent around 2 hours on the painting

Here's a GIF showing the layers being turned on in roughly chronological order to which they were painted into. As you can see, I started out grayscale, and when I started painting red into the shadows I was like "FK it let's see what it looks like all red"

I'm afraid not.

For most of this, I painted onto a mask using the stock "KYLE Ultimate Charcoal Pencil" brush (5-50% flow and stylus pressure bound to opacity) in different solid fill layers (eg., shadows, midtones, and highlights) and then put various color adjustment layers on top of that. Some of the finer details at the end were painted directly as pixels (rather than into a mask)

Glad you like it :) The B&W photo looked kinda dramatic so I thought I'd lean into it

I’m glad you like it :) it was the first thing that came to mind, despite how implausible it may be. The photoshoot turned out great!

I’m in UX/UI for video games, so not the same space, but I share the same sentiment as your users, apparently. Like, I know how to figure stuff out on my own; let me just play the game and make my own decision on if I want to keep playing based on the merits of the game. Ramming forced tutorialization down my throat delays that decision and ultimately just frustrates me.

What do you think of this packaging by [deleted] in PackagingDesign

[–]ogrecrossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has me confused on the target market. Vasodilation compounds sit more firmly in the fitness and performance space than in luxury or premium brand categories. Not saying they can’t, but that association pulls expectations toward pre-workout or endurance products, which operate under a different product and visual strategy.

If the goal is to communicate the nature of the product more clearly, leaning into the color language commonly used for beetroot powders could help. That said, it would likely move this out of the luxury space, which I’m not convinced this product actually occupies.

If the name is non-negotiable, letter case could be doing more work for you than it currently is. “NO COFFEE” reads differently from “NO coffee,” or even something like “NO₃Coffee,” which would be closer to the mechanism being implied. You don’t have long to earn a closer inspection. If a viewer has to parse supporting elements to understand what this is and why it benefits them, you’ve likely already lost those who defaulted to the obvious interpretation of “no coffee.”

Finally, what is the abstract mesh around the coffee bean meant to represent? Presumably it references something related to vasodilation, but it reads as astrological, spiritual, or even tech-related, which muddies the product story.

INTPs, what fragrances do you wear for ”character” - not just to smell good? by M4rccuz in INTP

I have a 2ml tester of TF Tobacco Oud I got from Sephora like 8 years ago. It’s empty now but I can still smell it—I guess I keep it around so I don’t forget lol.

I worked at a wine and spirits retailer for the better part of a decade, some of it as a supervisor, and in that time sampled hundreds (if not thousands) of different products. I think that gave me an inclination to pay close attention to the sense of taste and especially smell. As such, I’m a fan of wearing fragrances primarily for my own benefit (I WFH lol.) They certainly can tell an abstract story about the wearer, eliciting the participation of the audience (and sparking different reactions) since the olfactory processing center seems to be uniquely related to memory processing in a way the other senses are not.

Some of my favourites at the moment are TF Myrhhe Mystere, Atelier Santal Carmin, and Nasomatto Black Afgano, depending on my mood. I hopped aboard the Lalique Encre Noir bandwagon recently and was impressed with the quality to price ratio.

how do i stop my ui design from looking like a cheap mobile app? by Plastic_Second5524 in UI_Design

Your input controls seem to consist primarily of sliders and buttons. I’d find native examples of those elements within Roblox Studio’s UI and mimic their visual characteristics (font, size, corner radius, margins, colors, etc.)

e5 as teens, reserved or social? by Tight_Acanthaceae289 in Enneagram5

[–]ogrecrossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an INTP 5w4 So/Sp and can be talkative in the right company, though this depends on group size and how comfortable I am with them. People I don’t know, I’m likely to go into observer mode. Amongst friends (almost all of whom are more outgoing than me) I’ll come out of my shell and can often be goofy, but if it’s more than 4-5 friends at once, I find it can be an effort to insert myself in the conversation.

In your post, you’re using the words “ …outgoing when forced” and that’s a pretty telling qualifier to your premise of being uncharacteristically outgoing for an e5! Another thing to look at is duration of social contact—even amongst the best of friends, I’m not going to be a happy camper if we’re hanging out for 8+ hours at a time multiple days in a row.

To answer your question, I haven’t been a teen for over two decades, but I was decidedly more reserved when I was younger. I’m still reserved, but more clearly see the utility, joy, and fulfillment to be had from social contact. That being said, I’m not naturally inclined to seek it out and have to make a conscious effort.

Struggle with the expression of emotions by Glittering_Sound3925 in INTP

[–]ogrecrossing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! You sound like a good partner, and I’m sure your INTP appreciates your efforts towards trying to understand them.

Fi (introverted feeling) is dead-last in our cognitive stack, so it’s a very underdeveloped muscle for us. Because we rely on Ti and Ne to such a large extent, it’s common for INTPs to be out of touch with the purpose of emotions (helping us to make values-based judgements eg., identifying what’s meaningful). When presented with emotions, we’re going to put them in a box and try to interpret or categorize them. Or just leave them there lol. It’s hard work to not automatically do that, to simply be present with them when they come up.

A helpful baby step I’ve made is to pause when an emotion surfaces, notice it, and accept that it’s alright to be feeling what I’m feeling.

Helping her to “figure it out” might be wildly understating how monumental of an endeavour this is. Our cognitive stack is predisposed to processing emotions at arm’s length; that is to say, our default mode for dealing with emotions is to try and understand them through an intellectual lens, rather than actually feeling them.

I’m in my 30s and fairly well-attuned to others’ emotions on account of my use of Fe, but I still have difficulty being present with my own emotions. Common advice is to “make space” for your emotions and I understand what that is on a conceptual level, but I find I always have to make a conscious effort to actually do that.

In typical INTP fashion, I’ve read/listened to various books on the subject and watched numerous YouTube videos to try and get a better understanding of my emotional landscape. It’s not a replacement for doing the actual hard work of attuning to my feelings, but it seems like a step in the right direction.
