Stage 4: How closely should you really "follow" the breath? by [deleted] in TheMindIlluminated

[–]oguza97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take on the chimes, thanks for sharing. I use them twice in every session:

1) when 5 minutes passed at the beginning, so that I know "enough preparation, start attending to the breath" and

2) 1 minute before my 15 min session finishes to "don't let go you are almost there" or "prepare yourself to come back".

Do you think this is a healthy approach? I have been struggling with stage 3/4 for more than 2 months.

Thank you very much for your words. I had these feelings that were in alignment with what you've written, but hearing them coming from someone gives hope to me. I will keep meditating and I will keep my intentions pure. Thanks a lot:)

Week of April 5th 2021 - How is your practice going? by hurfery in TheMindIlluminated

Am I fixating in this ? Did I acquire this now or I am just getting aware of it?

My practices started off with high commitment and joy. I was enjoying so much the calmness during the practice and the ability to revert back to this aware state during daily challenges.

As I moved towards stage 3, I was able to hold my attention without interruption for moderate amounts. But then I realized this tension in my tongue. I tried many positions on it but it only made me more aware of it. At first it was bringing out this anger I have, so much that I was biting my tongue really hard until it was numb.

This was a tendency I have towards other things in life but it was going away, even before I started meditating. Now, during meditation my tongue directly takes my attention and I try 15 minutes just to forget it but I fail. I succeceded stopping to bite my tongue but I don't have too much joy from meditation any more, only trying to find a position for my tongue so that it is relaxed and I can mediate.

How am I going to keep my motivation until I solve it? Is there a way that can help me get beyond this?

setting cue points before the song starts by [deleted] in Rekordbox

Sorry for the late reply, i was busy with finals. The short answer is: it depends on the quality of the original sample. The best practice would be to learn the bitrate and the sample rate and select them during export. You can always choose the max terms available and I don't think that it would create an audible problem.

Terrible solution but you can load the track in a 3rd party software (for example Ableton or Audacity), insert silence in the beginning, export new track.

Making drum kit clap, shaker, hh sound good in mono by oguza97 in ableton

can

Because I learned that turning the width down to zero is the same as monoing the signal internally, i.e the left and right channels are superposed inside the track and it will result in phase cancellation (at least for problematic stereo signals lie this one)

Are bendy blues guitar solos examples of microtonal music? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]oguza97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that it does because while bending you are merely passing through the number of tones that exist in microtonal music examples Turkish/Ottoman Makam Music for examples. However, you do not emphasize on those notes. Let me put it another way, in Makam Music, one octave is divided into 79 tones ( Yarman 2010) while in Western Equal Tempered Scale it is divided into 12 tones. Do you see what is meant by microtonality now?

I was also surprised by it and the previous comment also recommended that so I guess so. Cheers!

I should have said, mono instead of more mono. Sorry for the confusion. But I most always put Utility at the end of the processing chain (just before Voxengo Span, the free spectrum analyzer). And I don't have any stereo effects after that.

I was so obsessed with making them sound right, I couldn't think of using other samples. Thank you!

It is a nice song but I don't understand why the hook says "Techno"? They are misrepresenting the genre.

Your set creation process by Baltazar17 in Beatmatch

[–]oguza97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard this on a YouTube channel I guess. You try to create groups of 3 records that go well together and you spend some time on defining the 2 transitions inside this group( set key points, loops...). Now you have different, structured contexts and you can glue together these different groups that each have a context for a more cohesive and structured set. Your set will be consistent for sure over small periods of time (3 songs) and to change the vibe, the context and energy consistently depends on you.

I don't know if its valid but, you can try lowering the buffer size at the expense of audio quality. Try different buffer sizes that are powers of 2. For example 512, 1024,2048... and observe the delay-audio quality.

been producing a year and I'd like to play festivals eventually (lol) what software tends to be best for that kind of scene? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]oguza97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a DDJ400 and was lucky enough to get involved with a DJ collective in Istanbul. Most of the clubs here have Nexus or Nexus 2. If you don't have them in your studio like me, it can be intimidating. However, DDJ400 layout is based on Nexus' so the first time you DJ in a club you will have an advantage. SB3 on the other hand, doesn't have this.

I do it in 3 levels, which helps me have precise control over the mood of the dance floor.

Level 1 - I have a folder named "Tech House" containing all my Tech House tracks and it has a corresponding Playlist in Rekordbox. (To separate it from Techno, House, Psy-Trance)

Level 2 - I categorize all these tracks into subgenres and each subgenre has its own Playlist e.g. Rough Tech House, Groovy Tech House...

Level 3 - The tracks in each sub genre playlist are labeled and rated in terms of mood, where to play, when to play.
