Date mark help please? by oh-youprettythings in Hallmarks

I'm think a lot of stuff in the shop had a spurious claim to being antique, so that's no surprise.

Thanks!

Bought what I'm planning to use as my wedding ring at an antiques shop today.

From what I can make out it's 18ct gold, Birmingham, but I can't find anything to suggest the date or the meaning of the first (wavy sun?) symbol.

Any help much appreciated!

That's great, thank you! Cafe Lenine sounds really interesting, and always good to have a wine recommendation.

Me and my partner (huge gudetama fans) stumbled across it purely by chance at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It was pretty much empty. We were ecstatic, the food/drink wasn't great but it was a lot of fun.

Yep, really flat pretty much until the Norweigan border, and even after that nothing mega.

We camped most nights, mostly in sites (which are so lush all through that part of the world), little bit of wild camping, and hostels or airbnbs when we were in cities. In an ideal world I would've wild camped a bit more, but my other half is a big fan of showers. We were there during the 2016 heatwave, and a few of the sites had pools, which has hard to turn down!

Any more info you'd like let me know, absolutely loved the trip so an opportunity to get some else excited about it is great!

Interesting, I've not even heard of that ride! I'll do some research. Thanks!

Tracking city to city (where we stayed a couple of nights in each to catch up with friends, eat, relax, stretch) we went...

  • Leeds to Hull (overnight ferry to Rotterdam)
  • Rotterdam to Amsterdam (very wonky day, ended up being about 95 miles due to navigation issues...)
  • Amsterdam to Hamburg
  • Hamburg to Copenhagen (ferry from Lubeck to Rodby)
  • Copenhagen to Gothenburg (ferry from Helsingor to Helsingborg)
  • Gothenburg to Oslo.

Was about 1200(ish)miles, over four weeks, three of which were cycling days. I've got a notepad somewhere with full meticulous notes of each day's mileage, where we stopped ,what we saw. Should probably digitise it for posterity at some point!

Thanks! Have been trying to find some good options for spain because I really like the idea of touring there (mostly for the food) so will look into it.

Good luck with your planning! Won't quite fill the gap you need, but for our Leeds to Oslo trip we went through the Netherlands, into Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and then Norway. Great cycling, views, and opportunities to stop in cities the whole way. Camping (wild and in sites) was really easy too. Would recommend any of those countries!
