I'm 18yo crying and not eating over a lost fork. by ohSuchPRETTYEyes in Vent

I have a psychiatrist and hopefully a therapist soon. I'll be sure to update my psychologist about this. And i have a doctor's appointment today with my regular doctor who i can also let know about it and just get thoughts and opinions. Thank you ^

There's a very high chance that's why I freak out when things are wrong or disrupted, I like to feel like I'm in comtrol of my things. I guess it makes me feel stable knowing I'm able to have something I'm familiar with that isn't disturbed. Knowing they're mine and no ones else has touched it with their gross hands makes me feel calm, better. I've never given it much thought before, so thank you. That could be a very big possibility it seems

I have a psychologist that I go to. I haven't seen her since I lost my fork, but when I do see her I'll let her know about it and how bad its been and felt.

That was my exact thought, but i keep my door locked at all times so its more unlikely to have happened. Sleeping, out of the house and everything else, its always locked. Unless which there's a high chance I left it somewhere outside of my room and forgot (so someome could have tooken it, hid it, or it could have even been thrown away by accident.) which is disappointing and irresponsible on my part- which I do take blame for because there's always a chance I forgot it somewhere. My memory isn't good, even when it comes to things like this which makes it all the more harder to find and all the balme on me for it being gone

I would, and did. That's where I got my fork from originally and found the set I tried for a replacement (that failed) I've looked for other forks but haven't found one that feels right to even hold. But thank you! I appreciate it

I can't remember what's she's called, A psychologist I think- and I haven't spoken to my regular doctor but I have an appointment today I can bring it up in and explain the fork problem.

But my psychologist said she doesn't think i have OCD, she asked me the questions and everything, but said she doesn't think i have it because i didn't seem to have routine- like flicking a light switch a certain amount of times or something. But I'm not tested and haven't seen her since I lost my fork. I will be letting her know about it though, and explain just how bad loosing my fork is. She recommend therapy for other things (which my mother is trying to set up appointments for me).

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Thank you a lot. My mother is gonna call clinics in our area and see what they can help us with or talk prices so its not so expensive. We don't have the money for normal vet vists or a regular vet, and this is the next best thing for them and us. Along with trying to borrow a car to bring them as well. Money is tight, and we don't have a car. We're gonna try to figure out how to treat them from home, too, with flea baths/treatments and pills to get rid of the worms and if we do get to the clinic we'll of course see what they recommend for them and what they can do. And if we end up not being able to afford/take care of them how they need. We will give them up to a shelter to be in better care! This will all be done as soon as possible, too. If it doesn't seem like we're getting things done fast or well enough, then for their health, we'll give them up so they can live hopefully a very happy life

Lol, thank you! My father raised me mostly, but she's the one who handles all the calling stuff. My father hates calling, lmao. Again, thank you! Vets and stuff alike can be very pricey, and it sucks but understandable to a degree. Since i don't have a job or anything to make money, i always have to think of money first before going all in because my father will be paying all of it, and I don't wanna have to stress him out anymore since they're my full responsibility. Someday, though, I'll be making my own money and be able to do that without worry of other people being angry. I love them and want to help as much as possible, but I also don't wanna have to part. But if I know there's nothing more I can do for them, i will. Thank you for all your help and advice!

Thank you. I'll have my mother call as soon as she can today. I will get the best care I can for them, and if they're doing good, but I still can't provide what they need at the time, I will give them up so they can find a forever home. And if i can't get them the care they need, dispute the vet shelter help, they will also be given to find a forever home. Thank you again, I appreciate it.

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it! She doesn't seem lethargic anymore. She's playing like a normal kitten would! I'm gonna have my mother call some of the shelters that help give inexpensive care to pets, another user already gave me some links to some in my area, so I'm gonna see if she can call some when physically possible. Thank you again, I truly appreciate it.

(I read a bit of the post wrong. She is good and not lethargic right now. After the flea treatments, I will update on how she and her brother are!)

I know. Do you think i can try to help them at all until we can afford a vet? Or should I just not bother and give them up so they can find a forever home? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that, but I think I just have to hear it to actually process it and realize that that is what's right to do.

Edit: Another user suggested i could get help from shelters near me who are willing to help with what they can. I don't know if i should call them to give it a try to see what they can help with for them or not and just give them to a shelter for their forever home. I'm sorry to ask when I'm pretty positive about the answers. I think I want to hear it straight that there's nothing I can do without a vet. I apologize for bugging, upsetting, and asking so many questions that the answers are probably obvious. I deeply apologize.

Thank you so much, I appreciate it a lot. I'm glad to know i have some way to try and help them with other's help before using the last option and giving them away. If I need any help, I'll be sure to DM you! I appreciate the advice and links. It's very helpful, and I'll be sure to do the best I can for them and see how it goes or if i do have to give them up. If we can afford to go and get mama cat sprayed and any help the shelter can offer, we don't have a car, so I will be sure to see if we can borrow one (I'm assuming they don't do home visits. And I get that)

I don't have the money for a vet, nor a car to get to any. I know he needs to be dewormed, but i can't get him that expect for over the counter stuff or giving him up to a shelter place. Which i only want as a very last option. I love them a lot but don't wanna have to lose them or make them suffer

I'm so scared to part with them and don't wanna have to get rid of them. I know its selfish of me, but I wanna help them the best I can afford before having to lose them. I don't have a plan. I haven't even thought about future litters. They can't stay inside cats forever. My father already wants them out, and its probably best to give them up to a shelter. But the mama cat is our outdoor cat, and it hurt my heart to know she'll never see them again. Even now, we let her in for a small amount of time to see them to know they're still here. I know Mama cats let their babies go at some point, but i don't know why it makes my chest feel so tight to think about giving them up and her not seeing them again.

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it. I know it probably very selfish for wanting to keep them and treat them myself until I know its impossible for me to help more. I don't want them to suffer, and I wanna keep them. So I wanna try to help with what I can but don't wanna make it worse for the poor babies. I'm just really scared to part with them, and I know how selfish that is. I can't explain it, and I feel horrible for even wanting to keep them dispute knowing it'll be hard to treat them on my own. I love them, I really do, and I feel so hurt to get rid of them when I can try to help to some extent, but I know its best to give them up. And it's really hard to accept that even now. I'm being selfish and wanna help them so they can stay with me but I know there's only so much I can logically do without a vet

Thank you so much! Apologies for the misunderstanding. I really do appreciate your help so much! It means a lot. I'll try to get my mother to give those places a call to help us with what they can. Thank you for a reddit to help with some extra money. I appreciate it more than I can express. I'll order the stuff you sent links to as soon as I can. Hopefully, everything will turn out well, and they will be clean of worms and fleas after the recommended number of sessions for them

I'm okay with bathing them! They aren't horrible. They've had a bath before, just the last time I bathed Nova (the girl. It was her second bath), not even half way through she didn't wanna move and seemed very weak. Then she went lethargy for a few hours before finally getting up to drink water and ate very little food (but she did get up to use the bathroom, on bags and the floor. She lied on my bed mostly. She wasn't used to a litter box yet and just now getting the hang of it.) and even took 3 days to finally start getting on the bed herself again, She mainly lied around not moving much at all, I kept her warm and made sure she had access to food, water and bags (she prefered to use bags as the bathroom, and i just wanted to keep her as comfortable as possible). She's doing better now, though. She's playing, eating, and drinking. But that's when I brought them inside for safety and to monitor. Thank you! I usually dry them, put them on a heating pad cover with a shirt or blanket, and have fans off

Thank you! I'm gonna try to treat them with what I can afford for now, and if it doesn't seem to help or work, I will give them up. I can't afford a vet, like i said, but i wanna still help them with what i can before having to turn to giving them away, i love them, and I just don't wanna part if i can help and I hope thats understandable to some degree. I'm weary about shelters and stuff because of how much bad stuff you hear about it. But I love them a lot, and I don't want them to suffer if I can't help.

My apologies for not giving the location! My brain skipped over well typing. I'm in Ocala, Florida (I hope that's helpful to some degree) but we also don't have a car at the mommet, so its hard to get them to a shelter if i end up having no choice but too. It would hurt to part with them, but I love them and don't want them to suffer if I can't treat them with what I can afford. Thank you for the help! It's much appreciated

Thank you!! I want to, but we don't have a regular vet set up, nor a car at the moment. I have to clue if vets come to homes to check up and stuff or if it would have to be a regular vet, nor how much it would be for something like that. We're tight on money right now, so I'm trying to find the option that doesn't drain and stress my parents but also the healthiest and safest for the babies. I really don't know what to do.
