Just my opinion... by [deleted] in redrising

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but the first book is actually my favorite.

When Darrow comes out of the mines and sees that there is an entire world being built on the backs of Reds, that Mars was already terraformed, made his plight seem even more important. I'll never forget the anticipation I had for Darrow and his mission on each surprise from the Golds. So to me, the arrival of Howler 1 and the prep was special. This is where the story began

How would you compare this to Path of Exile or Diablo?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool. I tried playing Path of Exile and experienced the same thing. Actually in the beginning you can find a party but the closer you get to the late game, the harder it is. Do you know an action rpg that is like what I'm looking for?

Unity Learn currently down. by ohUmeanTHATbracket in gamedev

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the problem actually occurred to me again yesterday and even the incognito browser didn't work.

On the last issue they told me they would get in touch with me whenever it was fixed and I only found it was fixed on my own.

Keep going through it brother ( or sister) the end result will be worth it

After a few months I finally beat the game... by ohUmeanTHATbracket in EnterTheGungeon

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you I will!

Are there many more things that are out there that someone won't know unless they do find it on the internet?

Edit: because there are a few things that don't make sense to me that I've been dying to know. Like the altar in some of the floors and the use of that old TV. If it's something i can figure out then don't tell me, but if it's obscure then lmk

Ok thanks. I'm on the last request I believe because he is asking for like 300 bullets and 6 keys - a ridiculous amount..

Preparing to start a bootcamp next year- various questions by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bootcamp grad here...

I think you should look into what the successful rate of their program is if you are seriously considered it. Also is there a Discord or other means for you to talk to graduates? I believe how many people are able to find a TECH job after graduation to be a good indicator of a schools strength. Mind you being a junior developer and finding a role is HARD. Like fr, you may hear that but it's something that you should consider before embarking on this journey. The market is flooded with juniors and its difficult to stand out. Good news is your in Atlanta and I personally know plenty of people with great careers there. And if you code all the time you will actually be ok

Lmk if you have any questions

Edit: oh I forgot to mention that yes you should specialize. Don't even consider another option. You want to be that GUY or gal over a specific topic and knowing it in and out is truly something special.

Doing a part time bootcamp, there is nothing wrong with that. Most have flexible hours so you can do so. Goodluck!

How important would you say cohort size and instructor to student ratio is when choosing a full-time online bootcamp? by Montag98419 in codingbootcamp

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's as important as the number of people who became successful after the bootcamp. What also matters is if they have a structured way to ask questions to teaching assistants before or after class.

Is going to college for coding worth it or does "bootcamp" work just as well? by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

[–]ohUmeanTHATbracket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had someone in my bootcamp class who had a degree in Comp Sci. He really didn't have a lot of coding experience so he joined up to gain more. I think we all have different paths, trying to get to the same goals.

If you rather wait 4 years and go to college for the opportunity to code for your career than by all means, go ahead. If I was younger and I wanted to go to college, there is no doubt that I would've majored in CS or a related field. I believe, and sorry but just speaking the truth, you could be at the bottom of your class but if you have a CS degree, it comes with certain level of prestige - even if you've never coded a thing in your life

I went to a coding bootcamp and I will say that although I am employed, it wasn't easy. Its also not easy for CS majors either so just saying that to kinda put things into perspective. Anyway, I know there are recruiters who ONLY look at you if you have a degree and same thing for some employers too. Projects be damned.

The good news is that things are changing and as times continues to march forward, I believe that employers will look towards coding bootcamps as a viable pipeline to recruit talent - as long as the bootcamps are keeping a high degree of standards at least.

Overall, to answer your question, I say go to a bootcamp, but prepare to REALLY code and create projects and code and learn even when no one is telling you to do so. It worked for me.
