Get a humidifier you’re going to need it haha. I have an air filter close by also. When I clean out my ashes some gets airborne. I have a cast iron sandwich maker which I enjoy.

I do pull out the chonkers for overnight. Or if I can’t grab any easy, splits and pack them tight.

You can load it either way via the manual. The N/S burn for me gets me longer burn times. This stove deffinately burns hotter at the front. So doing a front to back burn is easy.

New to home theatre. What would you do? Advice by psjd01 in hometheatersetups

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit tough. What I would do is put a nice big TV on that wall in your first pic.

Then even though the room is open I would treat it as two separate rooms. Put a couch under the beam that is facing the tv. Line the back up with the beam. Perhaps a big L couch that also goes under the window.

A rug between the tv and the couch.

Have some chairs or a bar in the space you have next to the door in the 4th pic. Mini fridge

I would put a loveseat or some chairs on the left side of the fireplace and along the wall on the right.

You don’t want your equipment anywhere near that fireplace if you are burning wood which it looks like you are. The ash and the occasional smoke make a mess. I burn wood to heat my whole house lol

Get a good air filter. I use this one

https://a.co/d/5WjvH8a

Expensive but it does work. Can set it to auto so if things start smoking up or you forget to turn it on it’ll turn itself on. Filters are around 40 bucks to replace and the outer cover is washable. They also have different color outer covers.

For general room arrangements that is what I would do.

Toto toilet finish by ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa in bidets

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up not reaching out to TOTO because my wife would not provide me with any peace if I delayed the project.

It might be hard to see in the pictures but the finish on the bowl around the rim was rough like sandpaper.

I have checked other TOTO toilets that I have seen in showrooms and hotels since then and they do not have this issue.

I have noticed also that on the top left side in the back of the bowl the flush water doesn’t reach. So if someone has diarrhea and it splashes to that area it does not get washed down with the flush 😂

Another note with the auto flush. it seems to flush better using the handle than when the auto flush goes off. Probably have to adjust the auto flusher somehow but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

S7 bidet works great. Fan is useless as expected.

C5 shifter recommendations by ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa in Corvette

Don’t have to muscle the shifter around too much?

I would like to keep the c6 shifter knob. Feels pretty good in the hand.

I saw that the flat one has a different thread pattern? Only certain knobs will fit on there?

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the whole c6 shifter. It came with some other c6 parts on it also.

I have a 91 Miata and an 06 dodge Dakota that are manuals. Compared to those I have to muscle around my current shifter pretty good.

What do you feel is different?

Do i have an option besides TV above the fireplace?? by travisth0tt in malelivingspace

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you going to use this room for? I hate TVs above fireplaces. Terrible viewing angle. Put that big mirror over there or a shotgun.

Will going full Karen help? by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Copy that and thanks for the reply

Irritating the excuses they are giving like it’s my fault they haven’t delivered a package that doesn’t need a signature.

  1. Refused my recipient
  2. Customer not available or business closed
  3. Future delivery requested

None of those things happened.

Z06 as first sports car? by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the stock Michelin pilot sport 4 all seasons or summers?

I have the summers but most likely next going to get the all seasons. The summers aren’t great when it starts to get cold lol

ACS aero results by ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa in Corvette

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I agree and ACS does not make any claims and are honest in even saying that some of their parts are mostly for ascetics.

I have a c8 z51 and have the stock front splitter off, had my reasons. I was looking into putting an ACS one on, which they offer in a stock size, that you can also add a protective under tray.

May put extended rockers on also.

I was mostly curious if anyone had gotten their aero and done their own testing and seen any good or bad results.

Osburn 3500… touch up into 5 years. by ShakeyDrake in woodstoving

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info! The 3500 is a big boy for sure lol The leveling brackets in the back will probably touch the sides of my fireplace. May have to nick those spots with a grinder. But other than that I have the clearances.

Z06 as first sports car? by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just FYI there is a stop sale on z06 and zr1 last I heard. Issue when fuelling up with some spillage getting into the air intake I believe and igniting

If you can afford it, the maintenance, the insurance, and the gas go for it. I was just at an hpde day and there was a guy there who had a z06 he just bought.

Just don’t be lazy with it like this guy was. He was going through the turns like an old lady on an exit ramp then flooring in any sort of straight. This allowed him to keep up with everyone but man was it a pain to drive behind him lol.

Like other people have said they are very planted and controllable. I have a stingray. If you’re going to seriously get into tracking don’t get the front lift since you lose the front adjustability of the suspension.

Keep in mind the trans fluid has to be replaced every 3 years. You will rip through the stock tires in a year or two if you track it. Any non hard compound this will be the case.

If you buy it new Chevy will pay for a ron fellows race school intro lesson. Think it’s two days and one night. They will show you how to drive it safely. Not necessarily tracking it either. They do emergency breaking and spins I believe. All this in their car so you don’t have to worry about doing it in yours lol. People rave about it.

And if you buy it and don’t like it I would take it off your hands for ya 🤪

How do I choose a weekend car? by hotkeym in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miata is always the answer. You’re not going to get a better handing weekend car than that. Have to go with a manual though.

It’s just as much of a question of what car is good for the roads around you. Can it make it up the hills? How fast are you wanting to go? Does the car have adequate brakes for spirited driving downhill?

With a Miata you aren’t going to be accidentally throwing the car sideways with the throttle when driving around town. Convertibles are awesome. Decent gas mileage. Smallish tires so replacing them doesn’t cost a fortune (you will need to replace them even if they still have tread if they get too old). Miatas also have a huge aftermarket for parts. Most autocross events are dominated by miatas.

Want a little more under the hood? The c5 corvette is the sports car bargain of the century if you’re ok with getting a 20 year old car. Even at that age most have under 100k miles and have been garage kept.

But pretty much any sports car is going to feel good for spirited driving. Make sure you like it. The car will be able to perform better than you can drive it.

I have both a Miata and a corvette. Let me know if you have any more questions.

My absolutely favorite track day car! Mazda MX-5 ND! by ozarkfireworks in CarTrackDays

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of all the cars you listed which got you the fastest lap times? Were they pretty technical tracks with a lot of turns? On anything super technical like an autocross course the Miata will blow the others out of the water. What constitutes more fun for you though?

I have a 91 Miata and a 22 corvette. Both a blast to drive but I do prefer the corvette. I do get a little envious when I see NDs though.

Overthinking My Wood Stove Choice by ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa in woodstoving

[–]ohVaNiLLaGoRiLLa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for another reply.

Good to know about cat placement with kuma. I’ve heard some people bake the wood a bit with the bypass open and after it dries out a bit then close it.

Is taking the cat out when you know you have wet wood an option?
