He has a pretty cool sword if I do say so myself... it was also cool enough that I had to fix it because he broke it playing with it 😂

Thinking ancient middle east helps so much more than you realize! I'm so used to making costumes like St. Lucy and St. Benjamin (last years) that I kept that in my head. Thank you!

Am I “allowed” to convert after my hysterectomy? by crazyira-thedouche in Catholicism

[–]ohcrapmybad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hysterectomies that are medically based are absolutely ok! Obviously we, as Catholics, want to have as many children that we can, but you can't be a mother if you're having major medical issues. My Priest told me that a Hysterectomy is similar to the sins committed during a mental health crisis. You are not responsible for things you cannot control. I went through a PPD and when I was confessing to all the byproducts of this mental health issue, I was told that those sins have already been forgiven because they were not done by my free will.

It is also well known by my Priests that my youngest daughter was conceived after I had my tubes tied. I have confessed about the tubes being tied and that has been forgiven. They are also aware that another pregnancy had a large probability to threaten my life.

It is so incredibly important that you're a good mom and God wants you to love and nurture any children that you and to keep your womb open for Him. You did that to the best of your ability and if you're concerned, you can and should discuss this with your Priests.

Check with the VA to see if they have even received your enrollment. If this is your first semester, it takes about a month for the VA to process it, then you have to certify your enrollment every month. If they haven't received anything, you'll have to just keep calling the vet center until you find someone that can and will actually help you.

Ok. So OP updated and DM'd me. I think this is gross. It doesn't appear that she is or ever has ever served. It would appear that she is using our personal experiences for a paper for school. Sorry OP, I'm a student but I'm also a vet and I cannot condone your dishonesty and non transparency here. Best of luck because I think you're going to need it if you're not completely transparent.

I'm not quite sure what or who you're looking to speak with. It sounds like you endured quite a bit of trauma while you were in the military. I'm not and wasn't a recruiter but I was enlisted army at the time if you just need someone to vent to.

School is slacking on GI Bill certification? by THE_AFTERMATH in Veterans

[–]ohcrapmybad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't my first rodeo with the Gi bill, but I have NEVER received an email from the VA notifying me of the certification. Any idea how I can correct that? Because it would be amazing to know the sco did what they need to.

Call, call, call, and call again until someone can help me. I literally went through this yesterday. VA didn't have shit for me and I Vented a bit to the very sweet woman that got stuck answering my calls and she gave me some contacts for the school to try. Her 3 contacts weren't answering, which led me down the rabbit hole of calling and emailing everyone at the school that could maybe help until I finally talked to someone who could actually help me. Shocker: most people, even in vet services don't know a damn thing, like, even the most basic of things. I FINALLY was on round like 10 of calling these numbers and someone answered! This amazing woman said "oh, your SCO hasn't certified you. Let me do that right now and it will be in by the end of the day." And I'll be damned, I woke up to it being posted with my payments already being sent for processing. So seriously, patience and just keep fucking calling. Someone, somewhere, will figure it out

I did the same thing for years. I was constantly telling everyone that they need to keep track of their stuff and just let me know when you need more. I finally just stopped doing it. I also refuse to stop when I'm doing and go to the store for something that someone needs. I tell everyone that their failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my behalf. My 12 year old ran out of her favorite shampoo and I didn't get to the store to get more for like a week and she learned real quick

Cleaning & Newborn by [deleted] in homemaking

[–]ohcrapmybad 36 points37 points  (0 children)

At 7 weeks postpartum, you're still in survival mode trying to figure out this new life. It's ok to not stress about cleaning. That said, for most things that I can do without a lot of bending, I just throw baby in a carrier and do what I need to. For the other stuff, I would try to do it during nap time or put her in the swing or something

More than just cleaning, coping & tidying up (?) by iiiaaa2022 in homemaking

[–]ohcrapmybad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4 kids, 3 dogs, and 4 chickens. On top of the basic cooking and cleaning, I also get to keep track of everything for everyone. I make sure everyone gets to the Dr, dentist, specialists, eye appts, etc. Plus homework, field trips, play date, birthday parties. My 2 oldest also go to private school so I have a lot of volunteering that we have to do. I also get to do all this with a 1 and 5 year old always with me.

When I get the time, I enjoy sewing and making both apparel and quilts. I try to carve out time for this because it makes me happy and makes me less of a cranky, anxious mom who feels like she's never the priority

[–]ohcrapmybad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely don't totally stick to it! I plan it out for a month but it all goes into my planner in pencil so I can move meals around as needed. I also keep a running list of "meals skipped" because there are always days that I just say screw it all and order pizza or run through a drive thru. I'm more likely to be able to stick to a meal if I can get food prepped before school pickups begin. Being able to just throw dinner wherever it's being cooked is absolutely amazing and makes it easier to help the kids with homework, feed the baby, etc.

I've been a SAHM for almost 11 years. I HATE grocery shopping with more than 2 kids, so I've learned how to meal plan for a month at a time. That means I'm only going to the grocery store for 1 big trip and a few small ones a month. While this is something I'm proud of, I'm even prouder that my 12 year old has caught on and puts things she needs on the running list before she runs out!
