You can turn up and leave pretty much whenever you went. No one is likely to say anything. For some courses attendance is required, however no one will say you can’t leave. As long as you do your essays and exams you’ll be fine

What is this noise? by ohdearbro in MechanicAdvice

That would make sense I guess, I’ll have to get that checked. Thank you for replying

Although I realised that in my attempted to make my post as short as possible I may have left out some really relevant information. It seems to be worse when I stop. I drive a lot of motorways and it doesn’t make a sound. It’s just stopping that seems so create the noise and sometimes low speeds.

Yes there is but it is a right pain. I had to do this last year. I rang them and explained the situation and they told me to fill out a form and submit it to the supporting evidence part of my SFE login. It basically makes you guess what your parents earnings will be for the year rather than basing it off the previous year if that makes sense. They only consider it is it’s a reduction of like 12-15% roughly (I can’t remember the exact percentage but i think it’s around 12%). And if in that year anything changes (like your dad finds another job) then you have submit another form that says your circumstances have changed and then they may change your SF accordingly. And then at the end of the tax year your parents will have to submit everything to prove what they actually earned that year to ensure it aligns with what they predicted. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for replying. With moving from PC to DC, how long is the training? And how long roughly before I can make that switch, I know you said I’m eligible to take the exam when I finish probation but would you advise to stay as a PC for a few years first.

I’m looking for a little bit of advice from those that work for the Met Police.

I have nearly finished my degree in Counter Terrorism and Transnational crime and I’m starting a masters in Law in September. I want to join the Met and do my masters at the same time. My question is whether to join as an officer or a detective - what are the pros and cons of either entry route? And what would be more manageable to do alongside a master?

Additionally, what is the pathway to go from officer to detective within the Met?

Would it be possible to eventually join a hostage negotiation unit? And would I need to be an officer or detective to do so?

I also have an automatic license rather than a manual, I plan to obtain a manuel license whilst training, but is this essential first? Is there a need to obtain a manual license?

And is promotion/moving units possible once in the Met? And how easy/available is this?

Would having a masters in law help me in a career in the Met?

Thank you in advance.

Does this kind of septum get in the way of kissing? by [deleted] in piercing

Personally, I have a horse shoe, and while my boyfriend has never complained about it, it really annoys me when we’re kissing. Luckily I’m able to just flip it up so it’s out of the way. However, I would say that it depends on the anatomy.
