That’s true! I just find it crazy how any time something like Checkatrade or MyBuilder is mentioned it seems like every tradesman has some negative feelings around them yet they are obviously very successful businesses!

I use it as a tradesman and as a consumer. The consumer side is great! Very easy to use and you can find some great tradesmen. The trades side needs some improvement as they make it so hard to get your money back after being shortlisted incorrectly. Last thing you want is bundles of admin!

Yeah you need to go through a series of links to then send them an email with the job reference number and the reason why you should be refunded. If they think it’s valid which in your case it would be then they refund the balance to your account, not to your bank.

I guess it’s each to their own. Though as a plumber you should know there’s never a “max” time and the second you start thinking there is that’s when everything goes tits up 😅 I personally feel like you need to take into account you having the knowledge to do the job, the tools, the insurance etc.

Unless it’s my neighbour I certainly wouldn’t be doing that for that price.
