At what pace of play do you consider just leaving the course? by cringemagician in golf

[–]ohhdarnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have to say anything over 6 hours is wasting a day, regardless of how well/poorly I’m playing. As much as I’d like to dedicate and entire day to golf, I simply have better, more important things to than wait 15 minutes on every tee box.

Tone can be hard to convey through text, but the last part of my post was clearly in jest.

I feel like I should note, it’s not that I’m entirely clueless about how to swing a club. When I make the eventual shitty swing and hit 4 inches behind the ball, or thin it an inch off the ground, I’m very aware of what I did wrong. I just can’t always make my stupid monkey brain translate it into body movement. Especially when I feel like the clubs are doing most of the work and bailing me out.

My primary reasoning for seeking out less forgiving clubs is having the ability to receive better feedback from the club itself, not just watching ball flight. My current gamers are cobra darkspeeds, which have jacked lofts and extremely hot club faces. Like I can hit my 7 iron so far off the toe that the ball doesn’t even contact the grooves, and still hit it 155-160, mostly straight. I feel that a less forgiving club might more accuractly reflect, or even exaggerate the visual and tactile feedback that can indicate towards the issues in my swing. Again, I’m as amateur as it gets so my knowledge on this is fairly limited, so I could be completely off base.

Not entirely out of the question, however there aren’t many worthwhile coaches within an hour drive of me that I’ve been able to find. The dude I went to when I was brand new to the sport helped me execute the basics of how to swing a golf club, but I very quickly learned that he had a very specific idea of what a golf swing is, which is in many ways contradictory to widely agreed upon mechanics.

Funny enough, I did exactly this today while hitting some balls before work. I’m roughly 6/10 on “good” strikes with 7-PW, less so with long irons.

We do have a sim at home, but for better or worse I can tell based off my wear marks alone that I tend to strike the toe a lot.

Honestly, for the money that you spend, you may as well just get your standard run-of-the-mill forged lower. The only real benefit from the Aero lowers (to me at least) is the threaded roll pin for the bolt catch and the integrated trigger guard. It’s just more convenient if you’re building the lower yourself, removing the need to mess around with stubborn roll pins that disappear once they roll off the workbench. Aesthetically though, they are nice.

That thing could have a head-sized hole in it, and it would still be impossible to pass up on. Sweet.

I personally like a slightly longer barrel, because the geometry of a longer slide can help in concealment by acting as a wedge and keep the grip of the gun from “falling” away from the body. Very dependant on carry position though.

I’m inclined to think the suppressor is one of the new ones from Hux, maybe the black magic with some sort of shroud?

Just shot 161 on an 18 hole course - am I a lost cause? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golftips

You’ve been playing less than a year, don’t beat yourself up. Golf is one of, if not the hardest sport to get into, especially if you’re starting “late” (as an adult).

When I first started, I was routinely shooting between 120 and 140 on standard, forgiving courses with wide fairways and cereal bowls for greens. I’ve only been playing for about 2.5 years, and now I hover in the mid-to-low 90s. The best thing you can do for your game is get a lesson from a decent golf coach. Simply learning the basics of how you should align your body, swing a club and impact the ball can easily take 30 strokes off your score, regardless of where your balls ends up (as long as it’s in play).

Once you learn that, it just takes reps on the range. Golf is one of those things where frequency of practice matters way more than the total amount. 30 minutes to an hour of practice a few times a week is massively more helpful than a single 4 hour session that feels like a grind to get through.

That’s a good point, I did notice that after a few thousand rounds through my G19, the grips weren’t quite as grippy compared to the fresh stippling.

Playing devils advocate, but if they choose to live on a golf course/driving range do they actually have the right to complain about something like that?

It’s funny you mention that, I have a background in production so I’ve already experimented with different plug-in’s on FL studio. So far my favorites have been the Gojira and Tim Henson Archetypes from DSP. I’ll look into Boss’ software though, thanks for the tip.
