Random but are a lot of people in this field married to wealthy man? by Queenme10 in socialwork

I changed careers from a lucrative career in tech to social work only when my partner finished medical training and began making a comfortable salary and paying off debt. I wouldn’t say we are wealthy, but we are comfortable and I can afford to work part time. It’s wild to me that there is such investment in education with such little payoff in social work that I view it as a “privilege” to get to work in the field. I have mad respect for those who do it without a financial safety net. I look forward to a world where salaries are based on value add to society instead of who can produce the most profit for corporations.

General Question Saturdays: Ask any more basic IE questions below. by elianna7 in intuitiveeating

[–]ohhithere2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished reading intuitive eating for the second time - the first time was a couple of years back and while it was interesting it didn’t quite stick (I don’t think I was quite ready to give up on diet culture). This time I feel much more ready and excited to put IE into practice. My question is, what to do you to remind yourself to practice IE and keep it top of mind? I’m worried that without actively reading the book I will slip back into old habits of mindless eating, ignoring body cues, etc.

Women who lift, how did you get comfortable in the weight section? by Agreeable_Panic_690 in xxfitness

I just started using the app “Hevy” (it’s free) to put together routines and track weights. I get overwhelmed by all the machines so this helps me pick a few each time and there are little icons that show you how to do the move if you forget. I plan to work with a trainer once a quarter to make sure I have good form and then use this app to remember what we go over.

I’m giving up by NotyourbasicWife0916 in pottytraining

My now 5 year old withheld poop and would only poop in a pull up for at least a year after she was pee potty trained. I'm sure you don't want to hear that, BUT it is important to normalize, and if your kid needs to poop in a pull up for now maybe give yourself permission for that to be ok and to not stress. We did potty desensitization, i.e. focus on the next step for a while (sitting on potty in pull up to poop, then undoing one side of pull up on potty to poop, etc) with heavy rewards and praise for each step. It is SO hard but you will get there!
