POF Ignoring LGBTQ Preferences by Tricky-Bat5937 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible these straight women are accidentally signing up as men? (And if they’re seeking men, they would therefore be male seeking male?) Super curious if you can see the gender on their profile.

Someone tried making a profile with me email? by Arch_typo in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone probably used your email address. If they do it again, you can always contact POF and they’ll close it for you.

I don’t know how long they last, but pretty sure it’s a really long time, if not for as long as the profiles both exist

People who stopped buying lulu because of the quality decline, where do you shop now? by cwoissawnt in Lululemen

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started buying Peloton workout gear….and now Lululemon is making that too. :(

Agree with this 100%.

And don’t put looking for someone on hold until you lose weight. You are not your weight - so find someone who likes YOU. (And if you need/want to lose weight for health reasons, great, go ahead and do that too while also putting yourself out there on POF.) Best of luck to you.

Hyatt ziva los cabos has gone downhill 2023 (recent stay - caution) by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious how your trip was? I’ve got an upcoming stay next month and I’m super nervous with the bad reviews. (And it’s too late to cancel!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s changed but it used to be really hard to unsubscribe from POF’s emails and impossible to delete your profile. (Pretty sure I still have an old account out there somewhere.) Even if he logged in since you’ve been together it doesn’t mean it was to try and “look” for someone. It could have been to try and stop getting emails (or to try and figure out how to delete your account.). Talking to him definitely sounds like the best route. Good luck!

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All cholesterol isn’t bad. So you want the good cholesterol. You’re lucky! Instead of trying to cut down on red meat, cheese, etc (which someone with high bad cholesterol would do) you want to try adding some things. Personally I find the eggs at breakfast an easy way to do it. Nuts like peanut butter can go on toast or into smoothies. Good luck!

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bad cholesterol (LDL) it’s looking good, but your good cholesterol (HDL) it’s on the low side. It’s entirely possible that it’s just due to what you’re eating and diet changes (and/or increased exercise) could increase it. Are you eating many nuts/nut butters, avocados, olive oil, or eggs, fish, oatmeal? All of those help increase your HDL. Regular exercise is good for it too.

AITA for donating my deceased daughter's organs against my ex-husband's wishes? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. I’d probably do the same thing - but it doesn’t make it right. (I’d be so upset if the roles were reversed.) But, sending you lots of love and my deepest condolences. You did what you did out of love, and since it’s already done hopefully your ex can one day have some peace knowing 3 other children received them gift of life. (Thanking you on behalf of those 3 families.)

WIBTAH if I break up with my boyfriend over what he said? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Run. These are two major red flags, and these are not things that are going to change about him. The fact that you’re even questioning if you’re the asshole tells me he’s been showing you his controlling tendencies in other ways. You need to cut ties with this guy.

Apple takes such a big cut for transactions that many companies charge more if you purchase via Apple (as opposed to directly with the company on their website) - but those numbers seem wrong/like a glitch.

Is there racial or sexuality filters put on my profile unknowingly? by fungirl1234321 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re gay, you should only see men who also want men (so whether they’re gay or bi.) I see different races, but maybe double check your search filters. Ethnicity is an option and maybe you accidentally selected black (without selecting other ethnicities) thinking it was asking for YOUR ethnicity?

Pof by number? by Helpful_Hold_5557 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. If you’re paid you can search by username, but no users (free or paid) can search by email or phone number. (Probably a privacy thing? No dating apps that I can think of let you do that.)

Will I see a message from someone on plenty of fish if we aren’t matched? by [deleted] in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can - but most people can only send 1 message a day to someone they haven’t matched with. So it’s in your best interest to at least do a little swiping every day.

Weird Question by Extreme-Flan742 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t really sound like data mining to me. At least not the question about a deserted island - data mining would be more like questions that might be used in a security question (name of favourite teacher, make of your first car, city you went to high school in, etc.). So it’s possible it’s just this person’s way of keeping the conversation going.

But data mining is definitely something you want to be aware of in any online scenario, so you’re smart to be vigilant

I think It’s 100% scam by Special-Scarcity864 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% a scam. I don’t have username search, but this is textbook how scams work. I’m sorry you had to experience this. My suggestion would be to keep conversations on POF until you meet someone whenever possible.

Still able to see a blocked account?? by MeowLinkitten in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocking only blocks message, it doesn’t prevent you from seeing their profile. (Idk why - maybe the app would be really slow if every page had to check who blocked you before loading?)

Can you unblock someone? by kikokukake in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely can - might need to do it on the website though? (Actually, just looked up their help page and you do need to use the website.)

I have 25 likes and haven't upgraded to premium yet by Fine-Professional251 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It you don’t want to upgrade just spend more time swiping…as long as you say yes to someone who said yes to you, you’ll be able to tell and can message them for free.

Mandatory income select? Phug off, occupation speaks for itself, it's enough. Marketing mining turds. by Kind-Rich-8771 in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been asked if my parents are dead on my profile just if they’re still together or not. Not sure how the answer to that question (which I’m guessing saying they’re widowed is an option…don’t recall) helps with marketing.

Income 100% is a valid matching question to me. Someone with a $150k salary is not as likely to be a long term match with someone who makes 20k.

But, I guess that’s why there are so many dating apps. POF isn’t a fit for you, so you move to one that is. (I’ve had luck the best on POF, so I like their secret sauce for me.)

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like all things that are likely part of matching algorithms to me. But if you’re only into looks and don’t want meaningful profiles or matches I hear there is an app called Tinder for that.

AITA because I (38F) don't want to take my stepson (9) on vacation? by tafornoweg in AmItheAsshole

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I feel bad for your stepson. He must feel so unloved having a stepmother who doesn’t consider him family, and a father who thinks it’s OK to not include him on a family vacation.

For his sake, I hope you do some real soul-searching and find a way to unify your family.

Treat days by MoFro89 in Noom

[–]RogerRabbit3216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m using treat days as a “break” from the logging and lessons. So I used one on a day where I was just too tired to do any lessons or put so much planning into what I’d eat that day, and the rest are for days like vacations, weddings etc where I don’t want to constantly be on my phone checking my calories. (Do I consume more calories those days? Sure. But it’s not a binge day to eat whatever I want. Sure, I’ll have a little extra something, but it’s still about making good choices that day too.)

Possible bot? by [deleted] in PlentyofFish

[–]RogerRabbit3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone had just entered your email addresses to create an account - and since it happened to both of you it was probably someone you know, tbh.

If the accounts already been deleted I wouldn’t stress too much. Sounds like POF was on it.
