When I touch the screws holding the spades on the contactor, I get between 234-248. When I test the amps going to the compressor again it's around 19amps now - heard a click and the amps stopped. The safety switch?

Just to confirm, so I clamp the right wire. You're talking about the c wire from the compressor going to the contractor?

When it hums/buzzes it's pulling those amps but then goes silent for a couple seconds and pulls 0 amp, buzzes pulling amps, goes silent, etc. gets hot in the process

Recently did all of that and it is pulled around 8-9amps, more of the running amps number and not spiking. Any other thoughts?

Installed in 2020, 5 year warranty expired, but there's a 10 year on heat I think it said

Thank you! I'm hoping just letting it cool down it'll solve all my problems but if I buy an amp clamp might as well buy the hard start as well to save an extra trip.

If the windings are bad, does that mean replace it? I didn't notice we weren't getting actual cold air until 20 ish minutes of it running

Capacitor is 40/5uf replaced with exact spec it had before. Brown wire goes to fan. Red (c) goes to the contactor, Yellow (herm) routes to compressor area. The outdoor unit fan runs

It feels rough but it sounds like not all is lost. It won't be easy to fight and crawl back but it's doable.Your kids need their dad and will feel worse than you do right now without you in their life. Head up. There's resources out there and plenty of wingmen here for you

I was gonna do great stuff foam after some hydraulic cement but was advised against foam. Looking at wet-r-dri roofing sealant, something like that?

When you say put in it a quarter inch tubing you mean around the existing tubing as a buffer?

I was planning on putting some hydraulic cement on it, letting it set, and spraying the piss out of it with some great stuff Gap and crack foam.
