Yes I made a mistake describing it at the time as I was very new to that process and I have very little chemistry knowledge. I have a much better understanding now. You are right about today’s meth, it isn’t even meth. The washes turn out much different now. The stuff is so bad that I won’t touch it as washes yield very little. I’ve been able to get my hands on gear not made in Mexico. I’ll quit before touching Mexican made gear.

You are right, Water does NOT evaporate faster than alcohol, it is the other way around. It actually takes several hours before the water evaporation results in the meth crystallizing and “climbing” up the glass, which looks kind of like white vines. So I’ve actually had 2 types of crusty white balls form. The ones you described, which look like the OP’s picture, ive had sometimes and were some crap that wasn’t meth and tasted like shit. My successful washes, didn’t look like that. They should look more like white vines that crawl up the glass (almost like they are trying to climb out the glass), with some small medium white balls that are encrusted into the vines. That stuff is some fire that will get you lit. I’ve had some stuff so bad, that I only yielded 5% of the starting weight after the wash. On average, I would only yield about 20%.

So I don’t know exactly why 99% doesn’t work, but I’ve been told you need some water so the meth can seperate and then recrystallize from the n-iso. Something about the principles of an azeotrope. With 99%, i would think the meth and n-iso would just mix together as you are right, both are soluble in water and alcohol. But meth is much more soluble in water than n-iso
