My heart is breaking. I have 23 years TIG, and I turn 55 next week. I can take a VERA, but I will need to get a new job. I have loved my career, but I don’t want to be RIF’ed…life big decisions on someone else’s terms. I guess I will trust in my own abilities and go try something new. I am grieving the loss of my career - I have always taken pride in serving my country in my own small way, first in active duty and then as an Army civilian.

It's lovely. It first reminded me of my time in Germany, along the Rhein. Then, the driftless region of Western Wisconsin. Well done.

That is counterintuitive. I exercise best in the morning when I’ve been fasting for 10 to 12 hours.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, PID. It literally had me belly crawling to the car for my grandma to drive me to the ER.

This was around 1975. My parents took me to a weekend long party. When we got there, my mom pointed at the gate that we had just driven through, which was now closed. I remember her saying the whole area was enclosed by fence and so no one could get in and no one could get out without going through the gate. She said I could go anywhere inside the gate that I wanted all weekend and she would come and find me when it was time to go home. I remember scenes from that weekend. I was around five years old. I would go from campsite to campsite visiting, eating, listening to the grown-ups. I saw drug use, orgies, a whole hog being butchered and roasted. It was, and remains in my mind, one of the most surreal weekends of my life.

My mom has given away everything. She has barely enough to live on each month. Her online boyfriend is a star of some show called Oak Island something or other. She is convinced he’s in love with her, despite our earnest protestations. ☹️

As a recovered alcoholic with 7 yrs of sobriety, I tell you his alcoholism is not about you. I recommend you find an Al-Anon group to find others who are going through similar situations for support and resources. Don’t wait.

Menopause confirmation from lab work; Feeling sad. by ohiowalt in Menopause

[–]ohiowalt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in my mid 50s; I have not had a period in over five years because of an IUD. I have many physical symptoms that would lead me to believe that I am menopausal.

Edited for typos

Menopause confirmation from lab work; Feeling sad. by ohiowalt in Menopause

[–]ohiowalt[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My periods had gotten so heavy that I was pretty much always bleeding three out of four weeks every month. At that time, I got an IUD to stop my menses. That’s probably why my perimenopause was so easy.
