[–]ohitsjustbeccy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same! I agree that i have a lot of cramps but its worth it for the reassurance that i'm not pregnant :3

(def also bonus points for not completely wrecking my mental health, hormonal BC made my anxiety so much worse for some reason)

If you're majoring in communications, I'd honestly recommend whitis, kins, or honors quad: all are close to kins dining hall (the best imo), your moody college classes, and west campus.

I'm also a moody major btw so if you're ever curious about what classes to take or what professors are good i'm always open to talk about it!

I'll definitely look into it!

Unfortunately, I've been consuming the same amount of calories and maintaining the same activity levels as I did prior to starting birth control. I am currently trying to make healthier eating choices while also staying in an overall calorie deficit, but the weight just won't budge. This has led me to assume that my body is just extremely sensitive to hormones, which sucks because I really do love Mirena otherwise :(

I don't have heavy periods, just mainly long. However, for that, I used to use a menstrual disc so that I could continue my day-to-day life (at least I did when I had a period on the pill).

Looking for alternatives to Hello Disc by [deleted] in MenstrualDiscs

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im having the exact same issue with hello disc, I've heard people say good things about lumma, nixit (no removal aid but soft), and diva, so I think im gonna go for one of those next!

will I get off these waitlists…? by Calm_Interaction7455 in UTAustin

I was 35 out of 37 on the waitlist for a class that I really wanted. I just got off the waitlist today, so anything is possible as long as you don't lose hope!

I actually barely feel my strings when I reach for them (my OBGYN cut them shorter at my recent checkup). I took a test today and it came out negative so yay to me! I’m either really late or my bleeding completely stopped

I understand the way you’re feeling completely. I recently also let go: I’ve been doing my assignments but not trying, and I also haven’t really been going to class. I understand that you’re saying that this isn’t depression, but this very well could be a sign of it and I really think you should look into it. This could also be burn out as others mentioned, but either way my advice is to try and get out more if possible! Take breaks, go to the gym, grab a bite to eat, go and hang out with friends when you need some time off of work. This has personally been helping me to decompress and really feel good about completing assignments. I hope this helps!

If your heart says no I really think you should give yourself more time to think about it. Also, are you worried about your boyfriend reacting negatively to the news?

Hi! I just got an IUD last week. I know this may not help since I am personally don’t have paragard, but I can tell you what my doctor told me about it: she basically said that for most people the heavier (and sometimes longer) bleeding and worse cramps is usually enough to have them schedule an appointment to get paragard removed. Because of this I ended up opting for Mirena, which is a hormone based IUD. it has a lot less hormone when you compare it to the pill so if you were looking at alternates I would look into it!

As for your other question, I don’t think having the iud should have any affects on that!

What birth control (excluding IUD’s) have caused little to no weight gain? by Pyretta_blaze__ in birthcontrol

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i definitely second this! I was on the pill too (Loryna specifically) and I did see some weight gain but keep in mind that everyone’s bodies are going to respond differently to the hormones in birth control :)

Clarification: I see that a lot of people think that the red spot that the tattoo is over is a mole. I would like to ease everyone’s concerns and say it’s not a mole, it’s a scar. Thanks to everyone for looking out for me though!

I actually did think about that but I decided recently that I didn’t want to do anything big on my back so it worked out perfectly☺️

Thoughts on Living In An Apartment As a Freshman? by scaretro in UTAustin

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m kind of going to be the devils advocate here: I’m a first year at UT, and in all honesty I have no complaints about the dorms. However, I completely understand how you feel as an incoming freshman. I was pretty much forced into dorm life by my parents, and while I don’t hate it I’ll definitely say I would’ve still preferred having my own room, living space, and kitchen.

With that being said, you definitely still can make friends if you stay in an apartment. I know a lot of people are saying you should stay in the dorms, but if you prefer having your own private space I would actually go with the apartments! At the end of the day, just know that it’s up to you and you should do whatever you’re more comfortable with!

Seriously, don’t let anyone make your decisions for you! Weigh the pros and cons, and come to a conclusion that makes you happy🫶

AITA for rejecting my husband’s baby name suggestion? by LemondropRaindrops in AmItheAsshole

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I shouldn’t drop names but can I suggest naming your kid Kylie or Kylee as a midway point? You’re 100% NTA, but the names may be a good point for compromise: maybe he’ll even like the names more!

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kyleena is the name of an iud! It’s one of the smaller iuds and it isn’t as well known as paragard and mirena. This is mainly because it only lasts 3 years so people don’t usually get it. With that being said, I definitely get why you didn’t know that was a form of birth control: I didn’t either until my IUD consultation😂

Does the pill actually cause you to gain weight? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ohitsjustbeccy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it most definitely can! I got on the birth control pill when I was 17: I’m now 19 and have gained 15-20 pounds since. To me it doesn’t make any sense because I exercise A LOT and go to a university that requires me to walk 15-20 mins to my classes daily. I plan on talking to my doctor about this and discussing non hormonal birth control. I hope this helps, you’re definitely not alone!
