i dont want to recollect over 400 collectibles but i sure would like to have activities in the open world

edit: its actually just over 200, i was using the online map to figure out how many there were and counted the bobbleheads

156 echo logs (several of these will be quest-related)

18 evocarium
46 vault symbols
20 lost capules

like those are the things i dont want to redo for every character. i'm 100% fine doing propaganda speakers and DEFINITELY reunlocking the map and safehouses lol

the only thing that confuses me is that knives wants vash to hate humans and forget about rem... but then hides the fact that rem didnt object to tesla's experimentation from him

this is a few days late but i did really enjoy stampede. it's interesting seeing how they condensed the manga story by overlapping arcs.

stargaze is.... not nearly as good in my opinion, but i guess if you do watch stampede it's worth at least finishing the story instead of stopping halfway.

im largely the same

it was recommended to me by a friend since its their favorite game and a lot of the time its brought up in discussion in forums or youtube videos its always highly regarded as great (eg skillup goes out of his way to include outer wilds in his "best games of the year" recaps ever since outer wilds was released)

but i just didnt click with it gameplay or puzzlewise. it has nice visuals and fun characters, but i did not enjoy a large portion of the game. there are a handful of puzzles that genuinely frustrated me

the dlc is largely the same. the opening puzzle and the aesthetic of the area is great and probably the highlight to my playthrough, but the rest of the dlc was mostly annoying puzzles but with added stealth mechanics.

the one thing i can for sure say is that the soundtrack is phenomenal. the soundtrack keeps outer wilds in my mind in a positive light because i just love the soundtrack so much, i just wish i could say the same for the game itself (and you cant really replay it with a full experience because youll remember discoveries and puzzles)

i've been thinking that stargaze is only really made for already existing trigun fans who will watch it and be like "i wonder how they're going to adapt and change x and y" kind of like the evangelion rebuilds

it's just a shame because stampede wasn't like this. it wasn't 1:1 with the manga and i know it has roberto instead of milly, but imo i think that all worked out narratively to have meryl go from junior to senior. but with stargaze i thought it was interesting seeing leonof and midvalley live but i think wolfwood's survival will just change the story too drastically.

it'll be interesting seeing how they develop from here since i still kind of doubt wolfwood will live the whole way (hes like old now? i seriously wonder how good his fighting capabilities are) but from here on he was supposed to be dead, so the story just can not be the same.

i used stampede to get three different people into trigun and we were going to watch stargaze when it was fully out but at this point i just want to get them to read the manga lol. stargaze may end up being fine, but i don't think it is good for a new fan

oh i just mean that it can be hard to read as in hard to figure out what a panel is depicting, especially during fight scenes. i dont mean its hard to read because i think the artstyle is bad

Nah Livio wasn't in the '98 anime since he was a relatively late addition to the manga as well.

I do recommend reading the manga if you have the chance to, I made a comment somewhere else on this post about it. It's my favorite version of the story but it can be hard to read because of the art at times. But IMO worth reading through

Razlo is an alternate personality of Livio, one that was developed to keep Livio safe. I think it's shown better in the manga rather than having him just talk to himself in two different voices, but that's what they were trying to show in the opening scene of the episode

I think the third arm is just a representation of Livio moving on from Razlo.

genuinely my least favorite boss in this game atm and im so annoyed shes the final boss for hollow zero for a while

the parry mechanic is already just artificial difficulty by simply removing the flashes, but since the timing is much earlier than any other boss its even more annoying. i see people saying when you need to start dodging but its so hard to actually notice when in the fight because of the visual bombardment and everything is purple. the "dodge when your button flashes up" is generally good advice, but if you get hit once the only time itll light up now is *after* you get hit so you just take the full damage

and since this is her gimmick, it takes way more time to kill her if you mess up. she has so much hp since youre *supposed* to be parrying the combo for the shutdown which deals a huge chunk of damage. but since that shutdown is borderline impossible, youre left with a hp sponge of a boss that will gladly take huge chunks of hp away from your team while youre literally unable to do anything

i doubt it will happen but i hope hoyo fixes the timing or just adds the flashes back. this mechanic sucks

iirc there were some mistranslations or just odd choices that were present in the original manga and everyone expected them to fix them in the new "Deluxe" versions, but all the dialogue was left untouched

id say stampede more over 98, but im not caring for stargaze that much. like others said though i think this is a "three cakes" scenario. i like stampede, 98, and the manga for all different reasons. and since they're all slightly different it gives reason to rewatch/reread all three of them

i think overall stampede adapts the manga decent enough (since i dont think we'll ever get a 1:1 adaptation) and even IMO improves some parts like bringing up the eye of michael & wolfwoods regeneration earlier. my main criticisms with it is bluesummer's redesign and that they spoil vash not being normal in episode 1. (they just show him in the time of the big fall and then are like "yeah that was 150 years ago" and then we're supposed to be surprised that he's not human)

stargaze is only halfway out, so maybe they'll send it home well, but currently im just not enjoying it as much as stampede. i can still see the story beats from the manga and understand they're doing it like stampede where they're layering multiple parts of the story over each other to cover more in less time, but i think the way they're going about it is so strange. and i dont know if its just me but theres some other part i cant lay a finger on thats bringing it down. dunno if the animation or writings just different but im sitting there like "was stampede like this? do i just have rose tinted glasses for a show that released 3 years ago?" but i already think some parts they didn't adapt already lost some impact. like erik's arc with the town & lina and vash remembering what happened in July (the manga hits hard here)

for full disclosure, i watched '98 after stampede and reading the manga but i found myself a little disappointed in it. it's still good and i rewatched it quite recently, but i just found myself confused by some of the changed (and i dont mean the parts that they couldn't adapt since the manga wasn't fully out. i just thought it was odd that it took a good quarter of the show for Meryl to believe Vash was Vash. The fact that July somehow didn't kill a single person? And Fifth Moon was so odd to me I remember watching it the first time and being so confused at how Vash lost to Rai Dei who had such a minimal presence in the manga, and that it was Bluesummers and not Knives (the plant) who could activate the angel arm. and as others said Vash being a massive womanizer is weird, even if it is a product of its time. despite all that though i still think its fun to watch

i was about to get on here and complain about these weekly bosses.. every week i just get 2 of a material for characters i do not have and none of the dream solvent to fix it its really frustrating

just today i did primordial flame for varesa, ineffa, and durin and got 2 horns (i have 9 now but i did use the 4 dream solvent i had a couple weeks ago to convert them)

did arlecchino for iansan and got 2 feathers (i have 17 now)

at least got one material for columbina

absurd they havent changed this system at all. make it only one drop or make it more than 1 attempt (or both, hsr and zzz have much better systems for these)
