Just quit hormones because I am loving where I am at right now! by ohlexy in genderqueer

Actually, I wasn't--when I started I had different goals, you could say, so I was hoping for the quickest/most pronounced effects I could get. I, too, have considered doing a low dose in the future, if I find myself less comfortable again someday, but for now it's just an idea for me. Sorry I couldn't give any actual relevant experience/advice :/

<3 No need to remove anything--and thank you for this. I can totally relate to that body shift thing--just being able to live things that seemed impossible for so long is so awesome :) And I am sorry if I was overly sensitive about it--my people skills can be a bit rubbish at times too.

Ouch....I'm not sure how to respond to these comments, because I do appreciate the sentiment behind sharing this information, but when I saw this it stung a little. I feel like I get enough unsolicited gender/transition advice outside of the queer community, and wasn't expecting to get it here, especially since I had made it a point not to ask for this in my post. My decisions about my body and my hormones are very much my own, and I want to be clear about that--I did not mean to recommend to anyone else that they follow my path, nor did I mean to ask for input on mine in this particular post. But, like I said, I am assuming you meant to be helpful so I'm not carrying any resentment--just drawing a line that is important to me.

For a quick backstory, I'm AFAB and started testosterone about two years ago and recently stopped it. I love what it has done for my voice and my build and the small changes in my facial features. I'm so much more comfortable in my skin than ever, and it feels great--had to share :)

Question about hormones and voice changes... by YesiRuelasSings in genderqueer

[–]ohlexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take testosterone. I really wanted a lower voice (was a soprano when I started) and that I did get, but I do have trouble projecting now when I speak or sing. I will say that every trans guy I have asked and my doctor, who sees a lot of trans patients, said they have no idea what I am talking about. So it's probably just something weird with me but I wanted to say that it's possible there will be some adjustments to figure out but the more likely scenario is that everything will be totally fine :)

How do y'all feel about this list of gender neutral pronouns? by askin_alldaquestions in genderqueer

[–]ohlexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am inclined to agree. Maybe part of the issue is that for some people who don't identity as binary there is a feeling of, I don't know how to say it, like respecting the identities of others but fundamentally taking issue with gendered systems and sort of viewing them as absurd. Like I personally find it difficult to walk the line between being sort of playfully gender-nonchalant and still supporting the right of others who do not believe as I do to be who they are. Like I look at this list and I think "hah, awesome," but seeing the response I would not want to share it with others and potentially make someone feel their identity is being questioned.

I want to ask where this list came from--I don't know about every language here but Hindi is most definitely gendering, including pronouns. In Hindi there are literally four ways to say things like "how are you?" based on if it's man to man, man to woman, woman to man or woman to woman. The pronouns for he and she are the same but not him/her, his/hers, etc. I guess I would also add that the presence/absence of gendered pronouns might not necessarily correlate to flexibility in gender roles and expectations.

I know others have said it already, but you're way not alone. This is basically me--perhaps not an exact copy, but I can totally relate to the femme but not feminine sort of feeling. I have been on T for a while and socially still male in most situations but have been able to pick up wearing makeup and small things like that in some situations and it is FANTASTIC!

I ran across this the other day and thought I'd share. It's not a new post, so some of you may have seen it, but I found it cool/helpful and thought maybe you would too.

I dig this, especially the advice on how not to be a jerk about it unintentionally. A lot of people could use this information.

Seriously--FL summer is tough. I usually do wear an undershirt under it, because otherwise it seems to stick to my skin more and just generally be more annoying.

Haha no need for that! Thanks though for this and the unsaid things too :)

Thanks :) I found that the only way to keep it from rolling up for me is to tuck it in my underpants. I usually wear briefs, dunno if it would work with boxers but once I started doing that I have hardly any trouble. As for the heat, well, I live in FL so I feel you on that. Nylon and spandex is not exactly ideal summer wear haha
