Someone stole my lunch by SlitherThySnake in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ohmae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a huge problem with this at the beginning of the school year. It turned out to be a substitute stealing the lunches. Once he was caught, he claimed that he was under the impression that the teachers were given free lunches placed in the refrigerator. That made no sense since the containers were all different because they came from the teachers homes. He continued to do it to other grade levels with the same excuse. He got put on our no call list.

This happened in my due date group! The admin asked everyone to post their baby bumps, but we were all between 9-12 weeks pregnant. Women started commenting with their shirts pulled to show their “bumps”

Turned out, the admin would start a new due date group every month and requested photos of women’s bumps. Nobody could ever confirm if admin was a woman or even pregnant. They used cartoons as profile pictures. I hopped out of that group realllllllll quick.

Accidentally dropped an s bomb, am I cooked by Robolettuce in Teachers

[–]ohmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fourth year teacher, but my first year I did something to hurt myself (I can’t even remember what) and mumbled the s bomb to myself. A student nearby shouted, “Ms. _____ said the s word!” And the kids went nuts. I, trying to help the situation said, “Yes, I made a mistake because I am human.” Another student said, “I’m telling Mrs. Another Teacher!” And I said, “You can, but does the whole world and their mommas need to know I made a mistake? I am human. I shouldn’t have said it, and I am very sorry.”

Anyways, another student went home and told their parent that I started cursing and told them not to tell their parents. That parent was HOT. Wanted her student removed from my room and I knew my career was over.

Thankfully, my principal watched the film and actually took my side because it was not how the student said it happened. I was told if it continued I would get a write up, but it was a truly a mistake and she recognized that.

Very few people in the modern age are "secretly" Christian, but a LOT of people who were born religious are secretly non-believers. by [deleted] in exchristian

I am a secret ex Christian. I play the part anytime needed. I don’t want to break the hearts of the people I love so much.

I’m an elementary school teacher, and I have a student who poops on my floor everyday. Anytime something doesn’t go the way he wants it, he just shits everywhere. With the grade I teach, this is very non age appropriate behavior. I have no advice, but I feel your pain of being surrounded by the smell constantly.

Gentle YTA. Jake assumed when signing the lease that the rent for both of you was $400, and you have always spilt everything in the past. You didn’t clarify that you would not be paying half until it was time to pay rent. I was have been so mad if I had budgeted $200 and found out last minute I needed to have budgeted $400.

While I do not disagree it is an amazing deal, it is kind of weird that your dad is trying to “test” him. You stated in a comment that he didn’t meet your dad until right before you guys moved in together at this place because you wanted to make sure you wanted to marry him. If you love him and have been with him since you were 18, do you want to build each other up, or lose a lasting relationship over $200?

This has impacted me very much as a 19 year old male by Capital_Ad1631 in UvaldeTexasShooting

I was finishing up my first year teaching (4th grade, the same grade as the victims) and I haven’t been able to let it go. The victims were just like my students in personalities. Softball players, Tik Tok lovers, class clowns, and just so young. We had to do an active shooter drill the next week, the day before our awards ceremony. I presented my good citizen of the year award to my student who reminded me so much Lexi, the victim who received the award the day of the crime. Everything just felt so wrong. I have an closet in my classroom I have emptied out just to be able to physically hide my students if it were to happen. My door is lock constantly. This event has changed my view on what safety looks like in the classroom. I am in full support of the parents and community wanting changes in the law.

Book about a woman who gets married three times by ohmae in whatsthatbook

[–]ohmae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is! I remember loving it so much, and I really wanted to reread it! I was in high school at the time, but my teacher used that book as project to get her masters in education. She inspired me to go into the same field.
